Would such a ruse even work though? Surely some people would just hang up wouldn't they?

In my experience of it happening when I've been talking to a girl you just get cut off and have to call again. Frustrating but I believe not the girls fault more the way BS manage the phone system - they need to replace phones before it happens which should not be that hard to do

Exactly right. It's impossible for it to be a ruse because when it happens you get cut off.
^ I don't doubt what you're saying but what I was getting at was that perhaps they were just pretending sometimes. It just seems to happen too often to be pure bad luck.
You'd think working phones would be a basic priority(?).
Well if it is true surely that's a joke? Assuming they have a battery meter
Since taking calls is the aim of the game it would be amateurish Indeed.
How many taxis have you got out of halfway because they've run out of fuel
I'll ask Danni Levy tomorrow when I talk to her on the Dayshow and see what she says. Looking at the phone handsets they use they don't look particular high tech do they!
Well maybe they are crap handsets I don't know, again if that's true, it's still a piss poor service isn't it? Any handset has a battery meter, and of all their years experience doing this, you would imagine at least one genius would have realised there might be a problem with using toss handsets? Just seems rather silly to me therefore I'm of the impression it's deliberate. And if it's not, and they really are that stupid, then I dread to think how they carry on with the more technical equipment

Like microphones that don't make any sound.
Yeah that's true!
So you get cut off, you ring back paying the connection fee again and the call timer is reset
Nothing new in any of this. The phone connection problems have been going on for years. A great way to make a little extra money
