Does this mean the SNP need a higher vote for themselves before they think they would win an independence referendum?

Hmmm.... that's a difficult one to call. It's hard to draw a comparison because of the extremely high turnout this time. If the Greens, large amounts of disaffected Labour and the majority of 16/17yr olds voted yes (as we're led to believe) then maybe the vast majority of people who don't normally bother voting, voted no.

It's entirely possible the SNP could face a backlash at the next election and lose their majority if a similar turnout can be achieved and a significant number of yes voters revert back to their own party.

Makes you look a bit of a fuckwit then, doesn't it.

Nah !

The fuckwits are the delusional 45% of simpletons who believed that giving school children the vote would secure a YES vote.
Should have offered more sweets , Westlife CDs and fizzy pop !
So enjoyable to see the YES voters so miserable.

Nah !

It wasn't a question.
Catalonia look set for a similar referendum in about 6 weeks, so I'd expect this story to get a shot in the arm then.
I'm seeing a lot of hypocrites on the this Thread, the same members who spouted all that bullshit about both sides having to accept the result.

All I'm seeing here is page after page of boasting from the No side who are doing their best to rub salt in the wounds of us Yes supporters.

All I have to say to you lot is it's very easy to boast when you're hiding behind a computer screen. I'd be willing to bet that none of you lot would have the balls to be so mouthy whilst taking a walk down Glasgow city centre Cool
Really? Apart from one obvious prick, I think it's been a fairly balanced discussion mixed with a little banter.

If you want to play the victim though, go ahead, knock yourself out Rolleyes
Thank you Silent you have summed it up perfectly there.

The guy needs to get a grip or seek grief counselling to get over the referendum result.

There it is the real uncovered face of the “yes” or else campaign.
Taken from the strategies of the NAZI and communist bullies of post war Germany.
That’s right it’s all words on this forum and you can’t beat us up or stop us from saying you’re wrong.
Scream why don’t ya.
You lost suck it up !!!!! ha ha ha ha ha you lost. And you can’t punch me. Ha ha ha ha ha.

I like to think that I have been pretty evenhanded in all my posts on this topic. In fact, I have probably made more pro-independence points than unionist points, if only because while I am pleased that the union survives, I despised the deceitful, scaremongering tactics of the "no" campaign.

But I have to say, Scottishbloke, that I completely disagree with your interpretation of what has happened in this thread. I haven't forensically re-read the whole thread, but I have been following it since it was first created. And it strikes me that a very divisive and emotive subject was mostly dealt with in a mature -- if sometimes ill-informed -- manner by most of the people who have commented.

This measured debate has, on occasion, been punctuated by one of your stridently insulting, abusive and invective-ridden posts, in which you lash out at the English and at the unionists with a level of aggression that is out of all proportion to anything that preceded it. This inevitably triggers a response, which you then perceive as being directed at you and your fellow "yes" supporters. Well, I guess it is, but only as a reaction to one of your unnecessarily violent outbursts. Nobody likes to be insulted; especially in your hit-and-run, drive-by style of basically telling us all to f$&k off before retreating to a woe-is-me, nobody-understands-me posture.

Silent Majority is right -- you can be a bully or you can be a victim; but you can't be both at the same time.
I'm so happy you decided to join the Lynch mob.

Well done.................I'll be fucked if I'm gong to waste anymore time and energy debating with you lot.

What started out as a debate has now turned into a Thread where it's perfectly acceptable to throw insults around, IE - Calling other members pricks.

I'm fucking done with this Thread.

Goodnight.
