They'll be sorry when Putin sends the troops in and no-one comes to their aid
RIP Margo MacDonald, who died today after a long battle with parkinsons.

One time deputy leader of the SNP, and probably the best leader they never had, she served as independent MSP for 11 years after being forced out of the party in 2003.

Hmm so does that mean if Scotland gets it's independence that it will turn it's back on ex-pat Scots. They would then be considered as English. Think the English should have a referendum about this Wink

It doesn't work like that. In the event of a yes vote everyone born in Scotland will become Scottish in nationality, regardless of where they live now and regardless of whether they like it or not. Nobody born in Scotland will become English, but if habitually resident somewhere in the UK they will have the choice of remaining a UK citizen with a UK passport, in addition to the choice of becoming a Scottish citizen with a Scottish passport. It's therefore possible for a Scot living in England to become a dual national, but if they already have a UK passport they could ignore the opportunity to apply for a Scottish passport too, because if they intend to continue to reside in England the right to Scottish citizenship may be irrelevant to them.
I wasn't really being serious but thanks anyway Smile
I have good friends who live in Scotland and regardless of the result, they will remain just that. I personally wish Scotland to remain as part of the UK. The regional and national diversities in our culture make us all stronger together.

And regardless of the fact that if they aren't living in Scotland they don't get a vote.

Why would Putin send the troops there?
They had a ceremony in Edinburgh today to celebrate the life of Margo McDonald. Lots of laughter and music, as Margo wanted. An honest politician, who cared about the people of Scotland. R.I.P. Big Margo.
