Now makes sense now i know its set before kirk and spock. Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue
Ep 3 “Context is For Kings”

A massive improvement over the pilot in fact if they had started with this storyline it would been much better. The problem with Star Trek for me was after DS9 it felt like they were using the same storylines from previous Star Trek shows which is why I feel it burned out.
With Discovery you look at it you know its Star Trek but yet it feels fresh and different. I liked the introduction of Captain Gabriel Lorca played by Jason Isaac after events with the ending it’s gonna be interesting with his character I still think the best character so far is alt Saru played Doug Jones, Michael Burnham is slowly growing on me but again needs more development this could change as the series moves forward.
The special effects in this Ep really impressed it’s really a massive step up from the older shows.
There are a few problems some of the other characters come across bland and 2 dimensional and some of writing and dialogue could be s lot tighter. Some of the technology still bothers me remember it’s only ten years before Kirk if this been set let’s say many years after Star Trek Voyager if think it would work far better or alternate timeline.
I would love to see a connection with Star Trek Enterprise and nods of what’s to come. All first seasons of Star Trek had there problems and it wasn’t until a couple seasons they all find there footing hopeful this is the case here, all in all I really enjoyed this Ep.
Michael burnham could be rather interesting to watch has she is going to struggle being human with Vulcan teachings and logic.

I think they should have made more use of michelle yeoh in this rather than kill her off in the 2nd episode.
There’s reason why she was killed off.
A very interesting look at the show and links with the other shows.

I'm reasonably impressed, though I'm not sure why everyone in Star Fleet is blaming Burnham for starting the war, I'm pretty sure that was Georgiou telling T'kuvma that the Federation came in peace. Smacks of scapegoating. I'll guess that Spock never mentioned he had an adopted sister for the same reason he never mentioned his half-brother until Star Trek V.

Georgiou's war crimes[*] notwithstanding, I quite liked her character.

Saru is great. More Doug Jones, please.

Was that a robot on the bridge of the Shenzhou? I thought Data was supposed to be the first sentient android.

The Klingon design is interesting, though it seems that they are all going to have to mumble at each other through their prosthetic teeth. I guess thay had a choice between Worf-style Klingons and Original Series Klingons, and picked a third path.

[*] Booby trapping enemy dead bodies is a war crime specifically outlawed in the Geneva Convention. They even namechecked the GC in one of the episodes, just a shame the writers hadn't read it.
^^^ if your referring to this character below wearing that helmet, it’s just a tactical helmet. In the novel she’s named as Ensign Jira Narwani and was the a junior tactical officer.
thought was from the planet Daft punk Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue

Thanks. She seemed to be right on the periphery so I couldn't work out what was going on. I wonder if there's a similar officer on Discovery itself...
^^^ I think there is aboard Discovery again female according to what I’ve read she’s alien so could a mixture of alien and robotic parts, guess we’ll found out as the show moved forward.
