Watched the first Ep, it’s a lot to process will try and do a non spoiler review later.
Ep 1

It it was ok if anything average neither bad or fantastic some where in the middle. Now baring in mind with most shows they take time to warm look at Next Gen it’s only when it got to season 3 where it finally found it’s feet same with DS9.
Now it’s very well shot and the cinematography looks great it looks like your watching a movie, the special effects look great only negative is too much lens flare. Now there’s been complaints about it looking too advance now I see it from both sides some of technology they have isn’t and some of it looks way too advance. I do feel some of is the original Star Treks fault if you look back on most 60’s tv shows every looks really colourful and simple and there version of the future wasn’t practically look at shows like Lost in Space, Time Tunnel etc etc they all similar in terms of style and all tho Next Gen was 30 years ago that version of the future still holds up maybe it would have been better if Discovery has of been set after next gen or been kelvin timeline. The outside of the ships look less advance which is fine but it’s in the inside were it’s a bit of issue, one problem with too advance tech keep a eye with how they communicate with Starfleet.
It’s hard to a feel of characters they are interesting but I don’t feel investing in them because you don’t know them well enough so they don’t stand out. I do think next gen and DS9 did a better job with character development and relationships but with Discovery it’s very days with the show.
I am disappointed with the Klingons I think it would have been better if they had been a new race of aliens I think that would have worked better. Now they look really different so I hope they explain that I know the Klingons in the original series look different to the next gen ones mainly because of budget in the original series all tho DS9 and Enterprise explain why they changed so I hope this is addressed. The story is interesting but again not exciting again early days and there’s a question of continuity which again either you do a good job in keeping in check or set further in the future therefore solving that problem. All in all I give them credit in trying something different rather then serve up the same Star Trek with more development, more character development and story development tightened up it could grow into a good show the potential is there.
Ep 2

Didn’t find the Ep at all interesting the story seems all other the place, they get rid of characters who you barely know making it hard to feel anything for there deaths. The Klingons I have no idea what motivation is just not very engaging in this Ep.
I liked both episodes thought they were very good.

then again im not a trekkie and just want to be entertained Tongue Tongue

Definitely an uneven start mate, its early days obviously but with a shakey second episode like that I'm a bit unsure of how its gonna go from here.

That’s I what thought but the potential is there plus all the other Star Trek shows had a slow start plus it has been many years since the last show Enterprise, I do like the fact they’ve tried to do something different. I do think it would have been better it set many years after Next Generation rather it being 10 years before Kirk. I would like to see a connection with Star Trek: Enterprise even a mention.
Actress Mia Kirshner has been cast as Amanda Grayson Spocks mother and of course Michael Burnhams adoptive mother.
^ahh, so sarek's spocks father. glad i now know that moving forward with this series! lol. Smile
