Ep 2 “New Eden” Season 2 Promo

S2 ep 2 “New Eden”

A very good episode which has a Star Trek: First Contact vibe/feel to it & was directed by Jonathan Frakes (Riker from Star Trek: The Next Generation) who starred in First Contact. Tilly again for me was the best character in this ep
Ep 2 “New Eden”

A interesting Ep which focused on Earths past and debate between reglion and science and complexity of the prime directive. The ending how ever is where things get really interesting setting up the next Ep and something very strange with Tilly.
Also something i noticed the Actress that plays Lt Commander Airiam the spore drive ops officer has been recast it’s very had to tell but she has changed.
I really liked this episode had real Trek feel to it with the Prime Directive running through it that I loved. The scene between Pike and Jacob in the church basement was special and I am enjoying seeing the bridge crew get more air time. Totally missed that Aririam had been recast

Looking forward to what this season will bring
I liked that, even though they had interlacing ring systems around a planet (no, just no. Well, unless sufficiently advanced technology, I suppose). I do like the way Anson Mount has a bit of grey hair that makes him look just a bit older than Jeffrey Hunter (the current series is about three years after the events of The Cage).

Apparently the actress who originally played Airiam (Sara Mitich) played the blonde Starfleet Lieutenant who was flanking Tilly when she and Stamets were looking at the captured asteroid in Brother - meanwhile the new Airiam (Hannah Cheesman) was flanking Stamets. It's details like that that give me a little geeky thrill. And no, I didn't realise she'd been recast either.
it's been awesome so far. Smile
S2 Ep3 “Point Of Light”

The Klingons are back, Georgiou is back & developments happen with Tilly & Spock in a very good episode.

L’Rell is a badass is one particular scene
S2 ep 4 “An Obol For Charon”

Rebecca Romijn debuts as Captain Pike’s no 1, Tilly & Saru are in grave danger & the Discovery is trapped & at risk of being destroyed.

A very good, gripping & moving episode
Enjoyed this episode, felt like it had a lot of classic Trek running through it with the sphere looking to communicate with rather than attack Discovery and the emotional scenes with Michael and Saru were indeed moving and very well acted. Interesting that the second episode looked at challenging the notions of ones faith when it came to the people who left Earth post World War 3 and created a new religion and now this episode ended with the challenging of the faith and ideals of The Kelpiens. After season one tackled war and the social aspects around it, this season seems to be looking to tackle faith, truth and ideology which I am certainly here for as the purpose of any sci-fi medium is to examine the human condition.

I am also liking that in their mantra of making the crew more diverse this includes alien diversity as well and with better make-up technology available this manifests as more than just pointy ears and ridges (not to be too critical of the older series and yes I know they are all ancestors of an ancient race that spread their DNA across the Galaxy because they were alone) I am very much liking the officer that had the cold in ep 1 and was at the briefing in this ep as a character that's design is a bit more imaginative as well as seeing more of Saru's physique, they really are Alien.
Ep 5 your gonna be in for a treat.
