People shouldn't ignore this for the reasons Scottishbloke has said, already in just a year some of the top channels have been watered down so much that the next few year doesn't fill me with hope.

The loss of bangbabes is IMO the biggest loss to the babe channels. The bangbabes crew would have signed this I'm sure. I think when bangbabes died, the babe channels died. Not a lot has even come close to rivalling it.

We're not suggesting 24hours porn channels, or scrapping daytime shows. Your privacy is protected... Sign it people.

i can think of 5 channels without a blink who have folded in the past year, who"s to say what the next 12 months will bring? with elite running scared of the big "o" and rlc very cautious we could be left with next to nothing if it continues, which would in turn be the end of this forum, wouldnt it ?;( the only way forward is to sign, at least them you know your on the right side of the fence!
Exactly Money_Shot and Scottishbloke. If you look at how cautious the channels have got in 1yr and look at how only a few complaints can lead to severe punishments, then the future for these channels is very bleak.
We've been given an opportunity here to do stand up and do something about the way Ofcom dictates what we as adults are allowed to watch in our own homes.
It takes no time at all to sign the petition and anybody who thinks things should stay the way they are, are seriously deluded to think that Ofcom will stop now.

I agree, i like you, and others have signed it, the most concerning aspect of all this is how ofcom have moved in for the kill, since bangbabes, and others have gone. And if 2011 is anything to go by, then 2012 is not looking very rosy at all. I still can't believe in this day and age in the 21st century that we're even having this discussion!! i mean will be going back in time to the 1940s at this rate.Important
i'm 38yrs old and have sky for the past 11yrs so i remember way back when the babe channels were on sky, and to see what we have now makes feel sickannoyed So much for living in modern times, what a load of shit. I like you am not deluded, and i do think that ofcom if they get there way will get what they want and completely destroy our babe channels for ever, and these people need to be stopped and stopped now.
I'm even considering writing to the Prime Minister directly and letting him no about the current situation. Whether it will do any good? i don't no, but i feel i have to do something.

Seems a strange sentiment, but I know exactly what you mean. Ofcom rolled over and begged when ITV asked for permission to cut Childrens TV and did the same when they cut Regional News and Regional Production. This is the same ITV that sanctioned waste of space Teletext for closing down its service without permission.

Late at night ITV now uses its precious Public Service Broadcaster licence and guaranteed universal transmission rights to broadcast ... QVC.

James Hunt has announed an enquiry into whether the BBC News position is too domimant. Doh! Theres a reason people dont watch ITV News, let alone (try not to laugh while reading this) Channel 5 News.

It is LAW that broadcasters should carry 50% European made content within 5 years of starting up. The only exception is foreign language channels. Ofcom lets Sky 1 off with a note from its Mum. Apparently it is a small channel and sourcing UK material is difficult.

Meanwhile a generation grows up thinking that big school is called High School, it is normal to have a "Senior Prom" when leaving, drive by shootings are normal and racial segregation is normal. Oh, and you should have a Spanish maid. Just because we share a language, it does not mean that American "culture" is the same as British. But a generation is growing up thinking armed police, bribery, drugs and so on is normal because broadcasters are lazy cheapscates and Ofcom has consistently failed to do the difficult bits of its job for years.

Reading Ofcom Bulletins its quite clear that there are radio stations blatantly pushing businesses of guests, lawyers, jewelers etc. These are not accidental grey areas but blatant breaches that any TV/radio presenter should know about. These are only ever picked up if a member of the public reports them. Then Ofcom accept unbelievable excuses such as it was a one off. They SHOULD check previous recordings. They SHOULD keep the station on a watch list. They SHOULD fine the station 10x the equivalent advertising revenue, or ban it from having paid adverts for a while. Do they? No, they give a mild telling off.

You can bet other radio stations think they can do the same and get away with it.

"But theres no money involved" Ofcom say. Not so. The radio station gets a guest speaker, and thats worth money.

Then there are the disgusting "religious" TV channels that charge money to send a prayer.

Ones that constantly exhort viewers to send money to help build a place of worship, but dont have accounts, and who break advertising rules by requesting money 60.24.7 through scrolling banners and speech.

Then there are the ones that ask for money to run the TV station. Thats actually permitted, but they have a suspicious lack of transparency and I would be curious to know what % wages goes to relatives.

Or the "healers" who sell some sort of anti-cancer yoghurt and tell people to use it instead of proper tested medicine.

Or the religious channels that describe another sect as Un-[religion] and point out tracts of their Holy works calling for unbelievers to be killed.

Or religious channels that say disobedient wives should be beaten, but only "with a stick the thickness of a mans finger" and only after a warning.

These are not minor accidental errors or one offs. There are vulnerable people out there who will send every penny they have and make their children go without. There are people who will committ violence. But time and again Ofcom accepts feeble excuses and passively waits for someone to report their own favourite TV/radio station.

Meanwhile they descend on Babe channels for mild content that is 100% legal in the local newsagent, or DVD and on the internet.

Disgusted, Tunbridge Wells
Yes some very good points there eccles, it's seems the rest of the channels are getting away with daylight robbery, religion to me as far as I am concerned is a very good cult as like you said is taken to the very extremist levels by exorting money out of the viewers which in contrast is a complete contradiction of what it is supposed to stand for, as for the babe channels they are probably in the worst state I've ever seen them since they've begun. 2012 may well be predicted as armageddon but could the reality actually be that it will be for the babe channels if not the world so to speak. Any causal fanboys reading this who at the moment doesn't have a problem right now with the shows, ask yourself if you would still be in the same frame of mind if ofcom get's it's wicked way and closes the lot down as this petition just to repeat myself also has a duel purpose. One further note it would be really helpful for every poster in this section to include the e-petition link to hopefully encourage more signatures as some forum members will more than likely not go to the lengths of looking back at the page for the link. 203 is the current number but just to echoe the sentiments we need more for this to really hit the headlines, the right amount of signatures could seriously cause a lot of damage at ofcom HQ. As allready mentioned your privacy will remain intact. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/13222
I was thinking, do you think it's worth me writing to the Prime Minister about this? Now I don't no if this has already been done, but I was thinking about writing a damming report On Ofcom and explaining the situation that we're in. Now I don't mind doing this at all. If some of you could help me maybe draft a letter that would be great.
Let me no what you think? Thanks everybody.Smile
I totally agree with all forementioned arguements regarding the freedom of choice!! Before U know it there will be someone in a stuffy office watching us with a cctv camera in our living rooms!! It should be more like f*** Offcom!!! Where do I sign folks ...Mart Tilly-Fan....
