This is the bit they don't get. 'Babestation' bangs on about not being bothered about those who only watch but don't call, totally missing the point that callers are also watchers - if nobody was watching there would be no callers.

I'd stake just about any sum, within reason, that every caller Babestation has ever had throughout its entire 8-year history started out as a 'watcher'.

If they're not bothered about viewers, why do they have a tv show? The fact is that the show is their shop window - its purpose is to get people watching in the hope that they will eventually be tempted into calling. At the moment they must must be driving away viewers in their thousands - how the hell is that going to generate callers?

No wonder phone-waving and mic appeals for callers seem to be increasing on a nightly basis.

I don't think 'babestation' has replied to this thread since this:

I think the only thing we'll ever agree on is that we don't agree on anything. That's the end of it as far as I'm concerned.

'Head in sand' time, I suppose.

Edited for typos.

That's only really because there's nothing left for us to say, to be honest. We spoke to managers/producers etc and the overall message was that they're happy with how things are going, and aren't going to change based on what we, or any of you think. You guys can obviously carry on discussion and give examples of how bad it is and stuff, but as far as we're concerned there's not much point in keep going over the same points when it's not really going to make any difference.

A lot of the images I see on here have less to do with graphics and more to do with someone working out how to aim and zoom a camera when certain graphics are on, which is obviously a separate issue, one I think worth pointing out to people, which I'll do.
We should all email complaints to babestations licence holder. That way Babestation will get into trouble. That I'd love to see because they constantly rip callers of by blocking the view their paying to see...

Thanks for bringing up the issue with BS management. If the babes are static, then the boxes are not an issue. I think most of the people posting in this thread realise it will make no difference. It's good though to highlight the producers who are poor at times in operating a camera by obscuring the babes on screen.

(01-12-2010 11:55 )babestation Wrote: [ -> ]regarding graphics, we (myself included) are working on a new graphics system in the background which is ready for launch soon, may be before christmas, if not just after. the new system will be much better for everyone
Have the new graphics been shelved then? If not, what did you mean by better for everyone?

Nah we're going to launch them after christmas now, we are running too close to our christmas cutoff for changes. The new graphics system will be much more controlled, so although we'll be promoting the same stuff, hopefully it will be in a much more controlled and sensible manner

It isn't a separate issue, it's the whole point. For much of the time the graphics make it impossible to aim and zoom the camera in such a way that a reasonable view of the featured girl can be obtained. If the black boxes weren't there, they couldn't cause a problem. If you must put up messages from time to time, find less obstructive places to put them - as it is, they're placed right where they cause the maximum obstruction.

It would be useful if some of your studio crew were a bit more concientious. A few nights ago whoever was managing the black boxes left Stevie with boxes on both sides of the screen. At first the cameraman tried to get around it by squeezing Stevie into the bottom right-hand corner but eventually gave up and centralised her image and just left it static, with her face obscured by a black box for six minutes. Unprofessional behaviour like that does you no credit at all.

One point about zooming must be mentioned. Most of the time the camera is zoomed in much too close. The result is that only a slight movement by the girl puts part of her behind one or more boxes. Even if that were not the case this too-close framing gives another problem. Many tv sets don't show the full transmitted Freeview image, mine is one such. Your technical people are obviously aware of this because the main OSG is positioned in such a way that it sits neatly at the bottom of my screen, with the scrolling 'small print' text running along the bottom edge (on sets that show the full image I understand that there's a gap between the bottom of the OSG and the bottom of the screen). On the other hand, your cameramen don't seem to be aware of this situation. The same amount of the image is also missing around all the other edges, meaning that bits of a close-framed shot fall off the edges of the screen and we have the tops of girls' heads/faces missing off the top or side of the screen etc.

Don't leave the boxes on screen for such prolonged periods - it can't achieve very much since a good deal of the time they only repeat information that's already there in different places. As someone else has already pointed out, sometimes the same information is on screen in three different places. What purpose can that possibly serve?

On the associated subject of Xtreme adverts, I really think that the live announcements by the night's host girl are now so frequent that the pre-recorded promos can be dropped. I don't believe anyone watches for such a short period of time that they won't see one or other of the live presentations.

You say the managers are happy and won't pay attention to what any of us think. Talk to as many business advisors as you like, I doubt that you'll find a single one who thinks that ignoring the opinions of customers is a good idea.

The amount of time the girls spend waving the phones about and/or appealing on the mic for callers as their lines are free clearly indicates that there are very few callers for much of the time. How can it be otherwise when the image on screen is unwatchable and therefore unable to hold the attention of viewers who otherwise might eventually be tempted to pick up their phones?

If the managers are happy with this situation, does this mean that Babestation no longer considers itself a chat channel and is now focussing on earning its revenue by becoming simply an advertising channel for pictures and BSXtreme?

Amidst all of this gloom, have I detected one bright spot? The horrendous half-height animated Xtreme OSGs haven't been seen since the end of last month and seem to have been replaced by much smaller efforts which are only a little larger than the normal OSG (why not make them the same size?). Dare I hope that they are gone for good? If so, a big THANK YOU to whomever is responsible - they were truly awful.
Haven't watched Babestation for an extended length of time in forever, but last night at 3.31 (thanks Jam Da Man Smile), Daryl was looking great in her black dress, so I decided to watch. It was horrible Sad

There were two black boxes onscreen, no less than four interruptions by Geri, and endless plugging of Extreme on the mic. It was frankly embarrassing to watch Daryl practically beg viewers to go and watch on ch. 96.

Then Geri arrived, first joining Daryl on the bed, where she said the word porn roughly 86 times, before saying that if 50 people bought Extreme, Daryl would get her tits out. Even if this was a joke, what a ridiculous thing to say. So the plan would be a viewer spends £3 for a hour of porn, but doesn't watch, so he can see Daryl go topless on a free channel Huh

Geri then appeared three time on the fullscreen/videowall set where she said it would be a good idea to try Extreme for the last hour. How? If you wanted to try it, surely it makes more sense to pay for a full night and see a variety of what's on offer?

This doesn't just apply to these two girls, though. Nearly every time a girl goes on the mic (which as vila has said is happening more and more often as callers dwindle), they advertise the picture service, Extreme, and sometimes as an afterthought, mention that you can call in to speak to them.

I wonder what if happen when Babestation achieve their apparent dream of everyone watching Extreme all night, every night. Who will be left to watch and call the regular channels?
If Babestation doesn't return to its roots pretty damn quick they could be in DEEP SHIT!!!!!!!!!!! They should concentrate on having beautiful girls on screen with minimal graphic and mic interruptions!!

On another related point: If they INSIST on having these pointless graphics they should at least get their spelling and grammar right!! I have just watched Paige's opening section on BSX from Monday night and on at three occasions they put up a graphic with it least one spelling or grammatical error!! I think the producers should concentrate on getting their spelling correct before tormenting their customers (callers AND watchers) with unnecessary and repetitive graphic overload!!

When the new graphics appear (I'm not holding my breath) I hope they will have FINALLY realised that 'LESS IS MORE!!!!!!'

THE SOONER THE BETTER AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED!!!!!
In view of the continuing and ever-heated saga of the Babestation OSGs I have decided to mount a public protest. The time for words has now passed and the time for action has arrived. As a responsible member of society who understands the need to inform the authorities of the precise nature of any public protest, I make this post. I now address the West Midlands Police directly:

NATURE OF PROTEST
I shall be lying in the road in the middle of Birmingham, and crawling round in the slush with a black box over my head. If anyone else wishes to join me they are most welcome but at present my estimate as to the size of the turnout is one.

POLICE RESOURCES
To cover my previous protest (legalise embezzlement) you deployed three junior officers in a riot van, plus a senior officer with greater intelligence, dangling from a helicopter on a rope. I would not anticipate you requiring any additional resources on this occasion. If you wish to squirt me with a water cannon again I shall not object, but this time please would you ensure that the water is at room temperature. And by that I mean the room where the Superintendent entertains royalty – not the room where you keep the fish fingers.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
If for any reason I do not turn up to protest I shall not be held liable for any finances expended by the force. I reserve the right not to turn up if either: a) Babestation improve their OSG display before the start time of the protest, b) adverse conditions prevent the effective implementation of the protest, or c) I forget. If I feel at any stage that I am going to forget, I will cancel the protest on precautionary grounds and notify you. If I should then forget that I’ve cancelled the protest and actually turn up, it will be the responsibility of members of the public to wonder why I’m lying in the road with a box over my head and call you to the scene.

The dancing black box.. randomly jumps to the right for a while, even when it isn't announcing anything at all.

Seems to happen every time I decide to click over and see what's happening on BS.
