I hate the annoying black boxes, the interuptions and the xtreme adverts (especially during sky only hours!!) as much as anyone and have made posts to that effect.
However, at the end of the day Cellcast are a business, not as some people seem to believe; a public service. As such they exist to make money. To be a success and make money any business needs an advertising campaign to promote what it does and the products it sells. Cellcast are simply following an aggressive business plan designed to make more money. What appears a rather shortsighted plan with no evident long term sustainability may actually be successful for them. You only have to see all those who gripe about the phone pics to see how many people buy those. Something I marvel at given they have been selling them for a number of years now.

The only reason that they can get away with the excessive advertising and obtrusive OSGs is that they have no competition on Freeview until 3am.
Until they get some competition, which seems unlikely now, or webstream TVs finally take off, they can unfortunately carry on as they do now.
I think I would actually prefer the old ch46 PartyGirls format (with better picture quality than that had) i.e. a smaller display area with the girl(s) in, without any black message boxes etc, and all the advertising done below and at the side of this main display area.
hmmm had a moment last night on phone to paige during her second BSX stint around 2ish i think and suddenly she goes off and blackbox fulls creen for 2 mins while they change the sheet cos dani had caused an oil slick said to her what is it with those black boxes blocking your arse tell the waste of space producer to sort it out then i hear a shout im not a waste of space so i shouted back your a waste of space a few times then she goes i think u upset him and so i say tell him he better stay well clear of the forum then to which she giggles so she comes back on and says will try and keep the boxes away from my arse babes
so if your calling and the boxes are playing up then ask the girl if she can tell the producer off it worked for about 10 mins lol

If I was a web guy I would stay well out of her way for a while cos she will even madder than we are or give us and her today's update and an extra one to apologise for making an a*** of it before going anywhere near her!!
