Where do we all stand on the BLM protests and the removal of Colston's Statue? I think while I understand the protests I think the riots & violence that ensued does not send the right message.

Removing Colston's statue was to me an act of criminal damage and those involved should be arrested and charged along with those who defaced Churchill's statue & Cenotaph. Whitehall now needs to sealed off to public at weekends and I hope those that attendedalso now realise foolhardy mistake & risk they have made to NHS. Saddiq Khan has also said they would look to remove the likes of Nelson's column, but for me the statue do provide a starting point for research for history and by removing them you erase a part of this country's history.

Whilst Colston was a disgusting individual making money from the slave trade, I agree it was an act of criminal damage, vandalism & eco pollution.

Agree history shouldn’t be erased, if statues are removed, then put them in museums so we can debate & discuss things like slavery
The devil will find work for idle hands to do.

They'd didn't riot in The States because a man died or here because of big business two hundred years ago.
No, they caused trouble because they're bored and the answer to that is to get everybody back to work straightaway.
If you're truly interested in saving lives then ban cigarettes, save the ice caps, reduce the speed limit, fund the NHS, stop the import of knives, etc, etc because it's natural to die from the flu.
^ Wrong on so many levels but I’ll simply say Covid is not the fucking flu and if after all this you still think it is then you’re crackers annoyed

Is that why you're posting this shite?
The history we were taught showed us what this country was right in doing, and at the same time what we did was wrong in the world, so we were taught both sides of the argument on certain parts of our country's foundation, but we have to acknowledge that our time in history will either be marked a bad period in our country's foundation or a force for good. Yes Germany has removed statues of Hitler but it was done as a democratic process. Colston's was not. But what did we feel when the Wall the came down, when we toppled Saddam's statue were those actions were done by a democractic process? But we have to be very careful where we take this period, if we continue on this path do we see the pyramids as racists or a signal of slavery do we see the Coliseum in Rome as sign of slavery? We have to be careful how we proceed.
Seeing as it's been mentioned, it's been proved that the pyramids weren't built by slaves, but free workers who were well looked after in a sort of national service, the experts have the evidence to back it up, tombs, graves and village remains. The Colosseum however, that was very likely built by Jewish slaves, as it was started around the time the Romans sacked Jerusalem. It has an extremely bloody history.
^Hope you understand where I am coming from mate
I do, you're thinking where will it end. It'll only end when those in charge show they are actually listening and want to make a real change. Trump clearly isn't listening, he's actually making things worse, their cops aren't exactly helping with their behaviour during the protests and until that policing is addressed, I don't think it should end tbh. America has problems that they keep ignoring.

Our government should really distance themselves from Trump and his comments, but they won't, because they are looking to America, instead of Europe for trade. How much they're willing to ignore for some chlorinated chicken, I don't know. They need to be careful though and show they are listening to our citizens, because ignoring this won't end well.
^ Seems that despite frequent guarantees from a variety of government ministers that they would never allow a lowering of our food standards they have already capitulated to the US negotiators that we will accept Chlorinated Chicken, hormone injected beef and I suspect GM crops will follow. The idiots in Johnson’s negotiating team seemed to think that they would insist that country of origin labels would allow us to decide if we wanted to by US produced food but the US team have said country of origin labels are discriminatory so fuck off.

This is all for a trade deal that is expected to increase our GDP by 0.16%

On separate brilliant deal negotiating by Johnson he agreed that EU goods (like Champagne etc) would continue to be protected in the Withdrawal Agreement. Didn’t do the same for our goods though when surely that would have been an easy matching clause so is now trying to negotiate it.
