^It won't be Thatcher as her scientific work is largely irrelevant. She only got into Oxford because someone else dropped out.
^ I hope so. I certainly wouldn't want to handle a £50 with her face on it.
I wouldn't know where it had been Surprised
A few days after Dianne Abbot claimed that the Met were wrong to be knocking thieving scrotes off their stolen Mopeds, we have another shining example of Corbyn's "kinder, gentler politics"

Lovely people Rolleyes
^ Yeah I wrote about this when it was first reported. At that time she claimed she only found out when her son was sentenced. Well that was a lie as she’d written to the judge asking for leniency before the sentencing hearing. Now she’s been found out and threatened a journalist with violence. Still employs her son in the Houses of Parliament though.

Oh and her mum is a long time friend of Corbyn who put her in the house of Lords this year.

Corrupt the whole lot of them.
Nothing surprises me when it comes to our politicians they are all just a bunch of smug self serving hypocrites and labour MPs are the worst of the lot.
I don't hold anything against Kate Osamor for employing her son, whilst it may have a smack of corruption about it (getting more of tax payers money into your family) it is something that is widespread throughout Parliament and is entirely within the rules I don't see why she should be singled out and held to a different standard than any of the other MPs that do so. I can also sympathise with her that she wanted to give her son a second chance, after his conviction. The story from the Mail was classic Mail hysterical bollox, making it out like he was some kind of drug dealer when all he did was go to a festival with some mates and some drugs, the court agreed and that is why he received community service. Dealers don't get community service. The Mail also made it out that she should be held account for his crimes, which is some completely ludicrous, backwards, draconian bullshit we do not have a criminal justice where we pass on the crimes of an individual to their family members, the son committed a crime lets lynch his mum. That whole story is just symptomatic of our failed war on drugs policy.

Where my sympathy for Osamor ends is in her threatening of journalists, a statement from The National Union of Journalists read:

"It's completely unacceptable to respond to legitimate press queries, however unwelcome they may be, with physical or verbal abuse."

I whole heartedly concur with this and it is very much part of the current populist narrative that if journalists disagree with your views they are biased and illegitimate. If Trump had threatened someone with a bat people would be, rightly, condemning it. Granted Osamor does not have the same level of power and influence that is held by The President of The United States but that does not matter, she is in a position of power and influence, it comes with responsibility and she has failed that responsibility and she was right to leave the front bench
I think you will find that the problem is not the drug dealing son but the fact that she blatantly lied to the parliamentary committee investigating the case by claiming that she had no prior knowledge of his conviction when she gave him the job as her assistant, but had in fact written several letters to the magistrate asking for leniency. Most people would sympathise about trying to protect her son but when she denied prior knowledge it was about protecting herself and not him. These people are supposed to be our so called betters and are therefore supposed to set an example to the rest of us.
He had 250 Ecstacy tablets and enough for 100 lines of coke amongst other things. Fuck he must have been carrying for a 100 friends. Bounce That’s bollocks, he was dealing and got away with it. Oh and I don’t like drug dealers being paid £49,000 a year to work for their mum in Westminster. He also lied on his application to be a councillor and initially refused to resign when they found out he’d been convicted.
Yeah he had £2,500 worth of drugs and claimed that he and his friends had clubbed together to buy it and the Judge accepted that. The way the justice system in our society works is that we now have to accept that as well. There is also the idea that you cannot be tried for the same crime twice, Osamor has been tried and convicted by our legal system, it is not the place of the general population to seek further punishment based on their own feelings about things. He also lost a job as a result, one that relied on public trust and that trust was broken so it was right for him to go. That doesn't mean he should not get another one, he is extremely fortunate that his mother was in the position she was to give him one but I do not hold that good fortune against him, I merely hope that that fortune can be bestowed on more people. You may not like a convicted felon working for their parent in Westminster, fair enough, but it is perfectly within the rules of Parliament for his mother to hire him.

I remember reading something by a Judge who said "Any Judge worth their salt will make decisions that the disagree with personally" which is very true, you don't want them sitting up there passing rulings based on their own ideological biases. As part of a liberal and democratic society we as a public have to accept the decisions we don't like either.
Nobody is saying he should not be given another job but it should not be in westminster at the taxpayers expense and certainly not because his mother used her position to get him the job. And he is a convicted drug dealer he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply.
