Press release from Women for Independence who were one of the groups she embezzled from:

Women for Independence are pleased that the trial is now over.
The missing money represented donations from women and men across Scotland to support the organisation's campaigning for Independence. For many these donations were a real sacrifice.
Women for Independence has been long associated with campaigning for justice for women caught up in the criminal justice system.
We were instrumental in the campaign to halt the building of the proposed super prison for women in 2014 and we launched Justice Watch in 2015 which has been acting as a citizens' witness programme regarding the reality for women and criminal justice.
The general pattern of offending by women is such that we believe most women serving custodial sentences would be better served by community disposals which do not disrupt families, children or in the long run cost more but which can demonstrate real benefits to women to cut re-offending while making a valuable contribution to the community.
We had no influence on the sentencing diet and recognise that we were not the only party injured by her actions. We respect the sheriff's decision given his comments on the seriousness of the matter. We are frustrated however that there are not more alternatives to prison available for sheriffs to consider and we will continue to campaign on this issue.

Does a custodial sentence of 18 months for a first time non violent offence seem harsh? A suspended sentence, community service and a commitment to paying back the money would seem to be a better resolution
Heard some complaining she should have been treated differently as she is a women and mother total bollocks

she was robbing of the needy in society so she should get away pardon the pun Scot free Tongue Tongue

If it had been a tory MP the SNP would have wanted the death penaltyTongue Tongue
There is just no getting rid of Farage (but surely once we leave the EU his party will be obsolete)unless of course he decides to rebrand it and carry on-so much for wanting to get your life back Nige Smile or maybe being leader will go to his head again. Coming second in a by-election has probably given him ideas -I feel we've not seen the last of him.
If The Brexit party cannot win in a constituency that voted 61% to leave, where can it win? Good old British media though, they spent more time talking to Nigel Farage than they did the BXP candidate or even the Labour candidate who was just made an MP.

In other asshole news there is footage online of Tommy Robinson assaulting another England fan in Portugal. Robinson walks up and punches the other man from behind whilst surrounded by his goons like the feckless coward that he is. After being humiliated at the European elections by being receiving such a drubbing that he wasn't even able to get back his deposit, Robinson seems to be back on home turf by engaging in English hooliganism.

I would say attacking a man from behind is a new low for him but this is the man whose first arrest was for assaulting a police officer because he showed the audacity to intervene while Robinson was beating up his girlfriend.
^I'd put him in the nearest lion den and throw away the key.

The EU victory clearly went to Nigel's head but how could he expect to get an MP elected when there is no clear manifesto?

Lot of talk on twitter questioning the unusually high number of postal votes in this by-election which accounted for 6,000 of Labour’s vote. In addition, at the count last night was none other than Labour activist Tariq Mahmood who was jailed in 2008 for (wait for it) vote rigging with postal votes in Peterborough.

Suspicious? You be the judge...
