Welsh Open began in Newport yesterday, with defending champ Jordan Brown taking an immediate dive.
Ronnie has obligingly done his bit for publicity by suggesting he's going through one of his "I might up and quit" moods.

Mark Williams lost a decider to Kurt Maflin, bad news for the home crowd contingent.

Ng On-Yee, having made history in qualifying for this one, got beat 4-1 by Ali Carter.
Selby, Allen, Higgins and Bingham all bit the dust, but luckily today Tubs Murphy has joined them, so he can perhaps return to commentary with John Virgo (what a treat).
Ronnie put paid to Ding's latest attempt to not seem like a has-been.
Ricky Walden saw off Ronnie in a decider.

Jack Lisowski v Ali Carter
Judd Trump v Neil Robertson
Joe Perry v Ricky Walden
Hossein Vafaei v Zhang Anda

A few less frequent names there.
Lisowski, Trump and Perry are all through so far.
Vafaei battled well this afternoon, leading Trump 3-1 and 5-3, but Trump battled through in the decider all the same.
Joe Perry led Jack Lisowski 3-0 last night, but Jack got back to 5-5, before Joe fell over the line. Afterwards he complained of feeling ill.

However he perhaps recovered as he beat Judd Trump 9-5 for a belated 2nd ranking title!
