I agree it wasn't that long ago But there wee players there who didn't even get a game too!!

What happened

Germany also lost to Slovakia 3-1 at home in a friendly. What happened is that teams such as Germany and Italy raised their game for a major tournament yet again and England didn't.

I think there is a mental block somewhere with England and I think that mental block is somewhat cash related I think those who performed last night should not be paid by their clubs for their first game of the season, and speaking of the first game of the new season I wonder how many fans will vote with their feet and the first games get played in near empty stadiums in protest to their performance last night? now that would probably hammer home to those players that their performance was not acceptable

Friendlies mean sod all, when it matters we never deliver

Just don't give the job to Allardyce , there's a reason he's spent most of his career near the bottom half .

A LOT of club fans couldn't give a toss about the England team. Their spending power compounds the problem by giving the Premier League the clout to hamper any initiatives attempted by the FA in the hunt to bolster homegrown talent.

Obviously that is not sufficient reason for Brexit but in the future we could put a restriction on the amount of none english players allowed to start any given game. I'm a big fan of having 3 or four foreign superstars in each team but when they are first team/ squad standard at best that's when I think English players should be considered. I always thought the Italians in the 90s had the right idea. You could have as many foreigners as you like but only three can be considered for selection for any one match.

I recall that it was a UEFA rule too only three foreign born players per match, I'm not sure it is adopted any more
