My abiding memory of Cubs was going to a special camp at a place called Gillwell Park and being given food to eat that 1916 Scouts would have eaten-some sort of muesli or other and it put me off breakfast cereals for nearly a decade. We also had to dress up like them and did some tracking in woods. However the real memory was one night a load of Cub Scouts wouldn't stop making a noise, they were causing a lot of havoc so our Sixer leader told us to keep quiet and not to get involved. We managed to get some sleep and the next morning all hell broke loose. When the parents came to pick us up, the Chief Scout(I think his name was Don) went absolutely ballistic at the Cubs for what had happened (and this was in front of all the parents) then he proceeded to name our tent as the best and chucked boxes of Smarties to us. We had big grins on our faces that morning. One of my proudest moments was being made acting Sixer and I got to unfurl the flag and take charge-I'd liked to have made it to that but didn't even make Seconder and never got to win any of those red or green triangular badges. We had the distinction(as we were affliated to Hendon area) of being Police cub scouts and had a special badge to sew on our uniform. Ah memories indeed
Lots of great comics as was discussed earlier. I don't think I got Look-In but I remember TV Comic and most of the other stuff as they were cheap back then. I did get ACTION comic which featured a jaws-like shark called HOOKJAW and Three Men In A Jeep(taking on Germans single-handed) and another comic Starlord which I got for a while.
On the subject of The Tomorrow People it was remade in the 90's with Kristian Schmidt of Neighbours fame but then re-made again into a major all-singing all dancing sci series in the US. child presenter Tommy Pender appeared in some later 80'a series but he rose to fame as part of a boy band called FLINTLOCK-who were resident on a show for kids on ITV called 'You Must Be Joking!" which starred a young Pauline Quirke. Nicholas Young who was the eldest Tomorrow person also appeared in the 90's version. The opening titles were very weird and included a picture of a hand coupled with the eerie theme tune.
Relive it now-behind a convenient sofa!Big Grin
I was 10 back in 1976 but I don't remember much-we did go down to Littlehampton(where my grandpa had a flat in a block and a beach hut!) during that Summer and it was incredibly warm, so warm in fact there was plague of ladybirds that covered the pavements and the sand too-we had to close the windows of the flat as they were flying about and they also bit!

God yes I remember the ladybirds of the summer of 1976. They were literally everywhere.

I read somewhere that there were an estimated 20 billion plus ladybirds swarming the towns and cities of Britain that summer
Yes blown across the sea-it was almost like a biblical plague!
Final post tonight/morning another advert quiz.
