Rodgers can tell Hodgson that Sturridge is not fit enough, he pays his wages, Ferguson did it all the time.
The rules have changed since Ferguson did that. Under the current rules Rodgers CANNOT tell Hodgson that Sturridge is not fit enough. The national manager is the sole decision maker on a player's fitness, aided by the national medical staff if necessary. These days club managers cannot withdraw players from international duty and neither can players withdraw themselves, unless they have retired from international duty.
An attendance of 56,000 saw England's 5-0 win over San Marino - not a bad turnout and higher than many people predicted.
The population of San Marino is only 32,000.
I was at the game and, I have to say, for a walkover 5-0 win, with little to complain about on the pitch ... the atmosphere in the stands was about as bad as I have ever felt it. Just dead. I left feeling a bit depressed.

I have been to Wembley for quite a few Chelsea games over the past few years (hee hee Smile ) so it is not about Wembley. It's not a stadium thing. It's just the feeling that England supporters cannot summon even a modicum of the enthusiasm for the national side that club supporters do for their clubs.

And I know that it was a relatively meaningless match in a weak group. But still ... to hear crickets in a stadium with 56,000 people is positively eerie.

That's not right. It's just not right.

C'mon England!!
The England U21 side have take a 1 goal lead lead to Croatia for the second leg of their Euro U21 Championship play off.
This is after a 2-1 win in the first leg at the home of my beloved Wolves - Molineux Smile.
Had to do it the hard way though coming from a goal down to win it with a late penalty after being the better side for long spells but conceding a sloppy goal.
Good atmosphere at the game and a pleasing result in the end.

I was chatting with Ray & Roy after the game,he was happy with the result, but knows he still has a lot to do to build the players confidence which is still being worked on,which can only be a good thing futurewise...
why was ray doing all the shouting and not roy?

Ray has been like that all throughout his football career,Roy is normally a very reserved character, when he had that swearing outburst everyone was stunned.

Thats why i think would be better if London was to get an NFL team and england to go on the road again guessing would get more people enthused about the team again

As the FA owns wembley could have the NFL money to fund all these 3g pitches and the Revolution of Grass roots football instead of going cap in hand to the premiership
