Diamond League meeting-London Anniversary Games over two days (longest in whole tournament) proved another winner for Team GB. British men 4x100m relay squad set a new world leading time 37.60s (CJ Ujah, Zharnel Hughes, Richard Kilty & Nathaneel Mitchell-Blake)

Yesterday Laura Muir once again proved to be a force to be reckoned with in her 1500m race and a rather poignant moment for Goldie Sayers, our best woman javelin thrower who was cheated out of a medal by a Russiian in Beijing 2008, she was given her long overdue bronze medal in a special ceremony presented by Sir Craig Reedie(member of the IOC) and Lord Sebastian Coe.
British Championships in Birmingham today, which i believe doubles as World Championship trials?
Yup,it does. Zharnel Hughes and Dina Asher-Smith favourites to go through. If you're interested there is another Diamond League meeting tonight from Paris -Europsport 2 865 Sky satellite channel from 7pm.
Hmm not everything went to plan, Hughes was beaten by Gemili in the 200m, Asher-Smtih won the 100, a few big names didn't make it OR they did but not the qualifying time yet. Going to be a World Champs without athletes in some field events which we used to excel at like Javelin, Shot, etc. Next stop Zurich and the Diamond League finals.(Thursday)
When will the British squad be announced? I would have to admit it is going to be a scramble to find a meeting get the qualifying mark in time and I would think it would likely be a very small British squad going to Doha
I should think soon as some Athletes had a few weeks to still get the qualifying marks needed to make the team for Doha. The last Diamond League meeting of the season is NEXT Thursday on ESport 2 at 8.30pm live from Brussels-for some reason they need TWO final meetings but it is worth a lot of money to those that make it to the final AND win the main prize.
I should think we'll have a good squad, particularly, with the track events. and I think & hope) Dina Asher Smith should have one gold medal sorted
Track yes a very decent chance of some medals but Field nah, not a bloody chance especially if no-one makes any of the tough qualifying distances needed. Legacy be damned, people just cannot be bothered with field events any more-no Javelin, Discus, Shot, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and even Decathlon. We used to be represented in all those both men and women-Javelin we had a world record holder(Fatima Whitbread) for women and Steve Backley for the men; triple jump Jonathan Edwards dominated along with Phillips Idowu, High Jump(M) Robbie Grabarz. If we send anyone in the field they will be lucky to finish second from last. Johnson-Thompson is our best bet for A medal, but the Belgian Thiam will be favourite to win the gold, new chap Ben someone in the Triple Jump could do well but we shall see.

It is a national disgrace we have no world-class throwing/jumping athletes anymore although Sophie Hichon(Hammer) won a Bronze medal but since then virtually nothing. Holly Bradshaw(PV) could get something but she needs more speed on the runway and more discipline. HJ-Chris Baker possibly if he's picked and Morgan Lake for the women have a possible chance but anything can happen. Best bet for medals on the track as long we make the finals of course. It will be very interesting to see how our team handle the pressure and expectation. One GOOD thing, Shauni Miller-Uibo, who beat Asher-Smith in the 200 yesterday WON'T be in that-she is in the 400m, but as long as Dina does well she should be the favourite BUT don't rule out Elaine Thompson(JAM) and Dafne Schippers(NED) etc. It's not a given she will win gold but we all hope she does.
Dina Asher-Smith claimed a notable victory tonight in the Diamond League Final. She clocked 10.88 to win the 100m in Brussels.

Thiam had an injured elbow earlier in the season and could barely throw the javelin. Don't know if she's recovered but there must be question marks against her.
Agree about Sophie Hitchon. She's been very poor this season.
You've forgotten Nick Miller in the hammer. At his best he could get a medal but the Poles must start as favourites for the gold and silver.
