Its part of the competitons stipulations that both teams coaches/managers shall give press conferences before and after each CL game. All to do with keeping uefa's "exclusive sponsors" happy .

He never fell out with bbc sport dept it was bbc news dept and panorama team.So he refused all interviews with all bbc representatives as revenge .He's still never had an apology from beeb but gives them regular interviews now .I wonder why ,seeing as he's supposed to be "a man of principle"?
He's just a bad loser .

Ferguson can win all the cups, titles, trophies or whatever he wants but again he acts like a spoilt child when he doesn't get his own way, he is one of the most undignified people i have ever seen...

All this talk about the red card has knocked Rooney's omission last night from the headlines, otherwise it would have been the big story. In 2010 when Rooney asked for a transfer from Man Utd he said he wanted the club to sign better players. Now they do have better players and that's why Rooney isn't first choice any longer.

Is he not second choice though alongside RVP? Surely it would have made sense for his creative ability to be available in the biggest game of United's season? I think a good portion of RVP's goals wouldn't have been possible without Rooney's contribution this season.

i was surprised regen cos against madrid u knew even against 11 men madrid would hav alot of the ball and iv always said rooneys work rate is second to none, no1 can deny that but probably some1 will Wink. i just thought he would have found a place for him somewhere like he did welbeck who also has good workrate, but just a thing about giggs, for some1 nearly 40 i dont think he looked out of place in that match. he probably wont play for a while now though, he might need a good rest.
Maybe the plan was to hold Rooney back until Madrid tired .Then Rooney would be fresher .

Putting Welbeck in the team ahead of Rooney was the right decision. Fergie wanted someone that could nullify Alonso and Welbeck did it successfully until Nani's sending off. Fergie probably couldn't trust Rooney after similar situations of failing to mark Busquets and Pirlo in past seasons. I don't think Rooney would have been effective on the wings either and if was asked to help Rafael defensively like in the first leg then it wouldn't have benefited Man United.

I think RVP needs a rest for Man United. He is going through a bit of a dry spell at the moment by his standards. He should have been taken off when Man United went down to 10 men because he offered nothing defensively for them.

Howard Webb has said himself that he was wrong not to send off Nigel de Jong in the World Cup final 2010.
