I took City to win this at 7/1 in August...

Slip was in the bin after four games.

if nani was still on the pitch dan i could still see madrid turning the screw cos they had to get that away goal, and they have just beat barca twice in a week, they are in some good form! i hope they dont win it cos i think sergio ramos is a total dick. if madrid and barca dont get much further though i bet the team of the year will still be mostly from their 2 teams, but i think messi might lose player of year to ronaldo this year, i know its early but i just think he will beat him

I wasn't reading too much into Real Madrid beating Barca. Two great wins for sure, but that Real Madrid team is set up to beat them.

I disagree about Madrid would have eventually "turning the screw". Man United's game plan was working really well up to the Nani sending off and they looked the more likely to score until Nani got his marching orders. They lost a vital part of their counter attacking threat in Nani and reduced Man United's threat, but they still created good chances in the last 10 mins to win the game.
I have a feeling that the reign of English and Spanish teams at the top of European club football may be changing. Arsenal are going to go out, and if Barca do then in all honesty Real will be the only spanish side that gets anywhere, no disrespect to Malaga etc...

I think they are missing Veratti as well who's supposed to be Pirlo's successor in the Italian national team.
I think the problem now has to be that UeFA now have to be a little more careful with choosing referees for games like this.
I just think he was the wrong person in the middle for such an important game.
I know it's different in our own league games, but I don't think the sending off was warranted, I think no malicious intent was intended on Arebaloa in the first place, who I thought made more of it than was needed and what he did was done more to get Nani sent off, as up to then I agree with most of the guys here United were still very much in the game unil then. I was surprised the refere didn't book Arebaloa for overreacting. That decision alone completely ruined what was a good game of football. I think now United will steamroller over the rest of the league. This defeat is going to hurt for a very long while yet.
Its "Arbeloa" .... Sorry seeing people spell it wrong is irritating me lol.
I think the ref was within his right to send him off, the referee has seen his boot was studs up into arbeloa's chest, regardless of intent or not nani didn't get the ball, the same kind of thing happened to shelvey against united earlier this season so i'm not at all suprised about the decision... What goes around comes around so to speak.

Just a few more things, the media and lots of others seem to have forgot about Ramos' disallowed goal in the first half which was a perfectly good goal in my opinion, I still think Real would have gone through in the end regardless, Modric changed the game when he came on snd what a strike...

As to why fergie left out Rooney, Valencia, Hernandez, and Kagawa i'll never know.... Playing Nani in the biggest game of their season after he's been a bit part player all season is a mystery to me, he offers no defensive cover compared to Rooney whos willing to track back and work, he 's better in the Box than Nani too?...

The remaining teams i think will be Real, Dortmund, Barca, Juve, Bayern, Porto, Valencia, Schalke..

thats 1 thing about rooney is his work rate and sometimes u see him at right back defending! iv said this before and i got slaughtered 4 saying it from fans of alot of teams but i dont think fergie has won the champs league enough times for the amount of times hes been in it and the length of time hes been at man utd. mourinho and guardiola have won it the same amount of times in alot less time, but you cant argue with his league record and the trophys hes won but i just think he will look back on his time and think he should have won it more, thats what i think anyway.

I don't see how malicious fans view on the red card is any different to mine??

I don't dislike you. I don't know you to dislike you, nor do I think you aim things at me. Some of your posts do make me laugh as I do think at times you intend to wind some people up. That said some of your posts are sensible and knowledgeable and I have on occasion thanked them.
As for Madrid v United tonight it's history now and all that the record books will show for years to come is that Madrid beat United. Its a pointless argument to say whether or not the Nani card should have been yellow or red as the fact is a red was given and off he went. The only point I would say was that upto that point the game was finely balanced.
