they have binned 8 million vids so far today, Mastercard and Visa have also made decision to drop the platform entirely,

Not surprised by both the action that pornhub has done by basically only allowing content from verified & official sources and the action from MasterCard & Visa to stop people want to use Pornhub Premium (where people can pay to get exclusive content & features) from using their cards. Will do them massive damage to be seen to be condoning child porn, revenge porn & rape.
I'm surprised that no one has linked this, already!? https://www.xbiz.com/news/256218/pornhub...llegations

The big 'news story' about Pornhub, is inaccurate anti-porn propaganda, masquerading as cheap sensationalist 'journalism'!
Internet Watch Foundation have found millions of items of CSAM (child sexual abuse material), on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
By contrast, barely over a hundred items, of CSAM, have been found, on Pornhub.
Plus, various charities, and third parties, have said that Pornhub's safeguards are effective.

Pornhub's deleting millions of items, that aren't remotely illegal, is a knee-jerk overreaction, comparable to what the credit card companies have done.
It sets a disastrous precedent, and will lose it users, and subscribers, more than satisfy those, who want a world without porn.

The phenomenon of people's filming almost everything, and the existence of websites with 'user-generated' material, makes it inevitable, that some material, that is no more than documents of crime, will be posted.
But, as one victims' lawyer tweeted, that doesn't mean that sites, such as Pornhub, are necessarily where they're posted.

I've been tweeting about this, as I subscribed to Pornhub 'Premium', less than two weeks ago.
But not only has my subscription not been processed, because of Mastercard and Visa. The (entirely legal) favourites that I'd accumulated, have been decimated!
Prompting me to rethink, having a subscription, anyway!

You’re right about the “big news story” that prompted both the action by pornhub & the action by MasterCard & VISA was done in the New York Times which was quoting TraffickingHub, but what this story doesn’t tell you is trafficking hub is run by a fringe evangelical Christian organisation called Exodus Cry which has far right ties and has the goal of abolishing the commercial sex industry entirely

Adult stars themselves though have been calling for pornhub to clean up its act as well & take action on things like CSAM & revenge porn
Visa have reinstated billing on Porn Hub

No they haven’t. They’ve reinstated payment billing on sites owned by the owners of Pornhub that offer “Professionally produced adult studio content”. Pornhub itself is still banned by visa until their investigation is completed

Putting aside the whole question of wether this is a veiled attack on porn, given that, as Rammy points out above, the social media sites are rife with abuse and revenge porn etc, lets just take a moment to reconsider the age verification measures that nearly came in.

Pornhub owners Mindgeek were one of the major players in offering a verification service, and credit cards were one of the preferred methods of doing this verification. Imagine how that would all look now if AV had gone ahead, and Mindgeek had gotten government approval, and now the whole system would be on it's knees because the card companies have blocked them.

Just as well it all got shelved Big Grin

I'll say more, soon. But, as I tweeted, Mickelwait, and possibly, Kristof, too: why don't those who are against all porn, just say so, rather than hiding behind other issues.

That applies to the liberal/left feminists, too, who have formed a marriage of convenience, with right-wing, religious fundamentalists, in this frenzy.

But, this is not too surprising. As not only, is that not unprecedented.
Other feminists, who are divided from them, include apologists for thoroughly reactionary, Islamic supremacists.

There is a fightback against this anti porn brigade in the articles which is achieving success which is mentioned in the x-biz article above

Quote: But today, what is different is that there are many within and outside of adult who are ready to fight for Free Speech and freedom of sexual expression, joined by those who stand for digital rights, LGBTQ+ rights and sex worker rights, among others.

An example is recently the Slavery Museum in Liverpool were promoting an exhibition they were doing with TraffickingHub (aka exodus cry) but then. very quickly cancelled the exhibition after they received a deluge of tweets and posts pointing out who trafficking hub actually were Exodus cry who are evangelical Christian fundamentalists who are anti porn, anti LGBTQ+ anti women’s rights etc.

Also various bills in the US failed to progress through the senate & congress and are now considered dead.

and more and more people are fighting back as time goes on & the religious anti porn brigade is getting more and more outnumbered
