Article on age verification today from Mail On Sunday
^^ Read a very similar article on the beeb earlier :

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40628909

and just noticed they have posted a follow-up :

These articles are still short on real details though, just a vague 'enter credit card details' as means of verification, which is not a great plan given the widescale card fraud and site hacking already occurring, and still no detail on who the regulatory body will actually be to oversee this.
I can see this either being a disaster, or more likely, being postponed.

That's assuming this government is still in office then of course Big Grin
I wonder what the banks think about this ? I imagine the cases of card fraud will go through the roof, there must be a safer, more simple way of doing this, something like an ID card for example.
I have never had and will never want a credit card. The local branch of my bank closed last year, and I am expected to pay in money at the Post Office, which is only a stones throw from where the bank was, using my debit card and pin number. I will not even use this.

^ I think its probably worth giving a little background for those unaware: The Portland referenced in this article is the operator of TVX, Red Hot and other Adult subscription channels. The business was owned by former porn mag magnet Richard Desmond's parent company until April last year when it was subject to a management buyout. It went for under 1mil.
Say for a moment that we accept that underage viewing of pornographic material has the devastating effects on the male psyche (some proper research actually allows room for more nuance) and relationships in general (the generally sighted sources are debatable but let's take it for what's being claimed of it for now)...

What is the best counter to this? Education and discussion right?

So I know... Let's bring in a regulation (feared to be) so ham-fisted and draconian that not only will it NOT stop porn access but it is MORE likely to stifle numerous sites that promote education and discussion of sexual topics: http://www.newstatesman.com/science-tech...l-harm-our

This is what happens when you let knee-jerk moral panic driven politicians lose on tech regulation. More concern for headlines once again than for the effectiveness of a given solution.

The legacy of demonising Dave will have a bloody long reach for this country it seems. annoyed
Bsx has confirmed in the rlc thread today that rlc have stopped showing pussy due to new law coming it that bans it from being show on a free to view website,
This is shit think it will mean a lot of the small channels that rely on showing pussy to get people to watch call could be in trouble,
