Why do Arsenal traditionally start off very well, so much do that by Christmas pundits are touting them as potential champions elect, than go on a terrible run for the next two months, have a revival around march and
April, play the best football at may and end up 6-8 points behind the winners?
Is it a temperament problem, the fact that the players can't handle the pressure or just they don't have the players in depth to seriously compete for the title?
Yep what your saying is exactly right, we always do this kind of thing but for once in a very long time the squad is strong with not much needed so here's hoping as always that something big can happen.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
so you think historically it's just a case of not having the same strength in depth as say Man City or Chelsea?
You certainly have an embarrassment of riches this time round. Midfield especially

I always thought it was a case of Wegner getting players who were incredibly talented and had a fantastic footballing brain. The only problem is that they did not necessarily have the stomach for the fight. I will try to elaborate. At golf Gary Player has talked about golfers who as sure as night from day would get a triple bogey and all but ruin their chances of winning. With the pressure of winning relieved they than play their best golf and lose by a couple of shots saying 'if only I did not get that triple bogey I would be champion' Player always believed that subconsciously they wanted to get a triple bogey because they did not have the stomach for the fight.
Like wise with Arsenal I always felt that their players were similar. When in contention the media and fans get excited and the pressure is enormous.
Go on a bad run get themselves out of contention, relieve themselves of the pressure of competing for the title than low and behold, they start playing their best football again.
I think when pressure is on it always seems to be the case with us not being able to deliver but there were encouraging signs like avoiding defeat to Man Utd away and beating City away in the league aswell as the fa cup win against United so there is something to build upon and I just hope that we can do sumin.

There is no doubt that we also found another way of playing that is helping us and I just hope we can do sumin massive this year, we were stupid in the CL last season where we could have gone to the final in my view and yes could have beaten Madrid along the way,so let's hope for the best and I'm hoping we finally beat mourinho and Chelsea because if you can beat them then we stand a very good chance of winning the league.
I have the feeling that you could be serious contenders this season. Don't know why but I think it will be between you and Chelsea and man City and Man Utd will fight for third. Mourinho has an incredible record against you, even more impressive than your record against WestHamannoyed

You have an easy first game at least. I thought we might catch you napping but after seeing the respective pre season results, no chance.
Might be worth betting on Arsenal to win even after giving West Ham a one goal start. I would be very surprised at anything less than 3-0 to the Arsenal unfortunately.
My predicted Arsenal line up for the community shield.

Goalkeeper - Cecn
Right Backs- Bellerin - Choose him instead of Debuchy because of his form last season.
Centrebacks - Mertesacker & Koscielny
Left Back - Gibbs
Central Midfielders - Ramsey and Coquelin
Attacking Midfielder - Ozil
Right/Left Wing - Sanchez and Cazorla
Striker - Walcott - Instead of Giroud as we saw in the FA cup final last season he causes defenses more problems and I feel hes better than Giroud in my opinion.
^hard to argue with that though wilshere might start before sanchez due to his fitness. Smile
My Overall line up!

I forgot Sanchez weren't playing!

What do you think now Terence? Welbeck instead of Wilshere
Welbeck out too lol

Hmmm its either Giroud or Welbeck. Arsene isnt going to play Oxlade, Theo and Santi all upfront I highly doubt that. But I choose Welbeck over Giroud.
