Opening match of the tournament, & Namibia crushed Sri Lanka by 55 runs.

Game 1 Group A
NAM 163-7
SL 108 (19 Overs)

A great performance all round in the field by Namibia. With the bat, after the loss of 2 quick wickets, the innings could've fallen away at 93-6, but Frylinck (44) & Smit (31 no) added 70 valuable runs, to post a winning total.
Frylinck was named Man of the Match for his 44 runs & 2-26 with the ball.
That's a crushing defeat for SL, I would have Namibia down as a dark horse to cause one or two upsets
Ooh I do like it when the lower ranked nations cause an upset Big Grin.
Has to be an embarasing loss for SL and i believe Namibia mus be one of the lowest ranked t20 teams in the competition
The present Sri Lankan team isn't the quality team of old.
(Sods law, they will probably end up winning the competition now)
Game 2 Group A
UAE 111-8
NED 112-7 (19.5 overs)
Netherlands won by 3 wickets
Tomorrow - Group B Scotland v West Indies (05.00 BST) & Ireland V Zimbabwe (09.00 BST)
Group 1 - England, New Zealand, Australia, Afghanistan

Group 2 - Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, South Africa
Format - Group 1 & 2 make up the top 8 ranked teams. The 1st Round matches involve Group A & B, with A1 & B2 qualifying into Group 1, & B1 & A2 qualifying into Group 2.

Yes for sure! The possibility of that should be one of the fundamental reasons (along with natural competition) for the inclusion of as many nations as possible at all times.

The only people seemingly against such a natural structure, are the vested interests and their discomfort at the prospect of being among the 'elite' to fall on their ass at the hands of such lower ranked nations. Look at Ravi Shastris plan for test cricket?? Must never be allowed to happen, and they need to also look at completing the work done on the World Cup itself, and finish the job by adding two more nations to the propsed 14 nation tournament (4 x 4 groups)

I am sure snooks that even England fans see the merit in expansion, even allowing for the Netherlands in the T20 and Ireland in the World Cup back in the day
