Match 21 Group 1 Afghanistan v New Zealand - MCG (09.00 BST)
Match abandoned without a ball being bowled.
42-3 England what the f**k are we doing?
Admittedly I only saw the hour - long highlights, but I didn't see the England capitulation that is being talked about on other social media platforms. In fact, It was Ireland that spilled their catches, so how much worse would it have been had they held them all! Take the score when the rain ended things, and I think that Ireland could reasonably have been suggested to have had their noses in front anyway!

Not here, but elsewhere, it is being suggested that Ireland's win isn't really a win due to it being through DLS. Have England not won numerous matches in the same fashion. No offence, but no team that turns England over is ever going to get credit for it, as it simply isn't allowed (at least in the minds of some) and the narrative will always be 'why were England so poor'
Perhaps, with power to add, England may well have got over the line, given a full 20 overs, but in the overs played, Ireland had the best of it, & deserved the win. They bossed the first half of the innings with the ball, & most of the innings in the field, until Moeen got going.

Woould you say the DLS method rhe fairest way to work out a result for a rain affected t20 match or would be in favour of a different method?
Regarding DLS, I don't think it works in T20, in all situations. In 50 over cricket it works most of the time. In both cases, when a calculation is applied to a 5 over target, or predicting 5 overs, as was the case in the England v Ireland game, the margins become very wide in terms of how a game could pan out. England deserved to lose, they were not at their best, Ireland were on top for longer throughout the game. But 10 runs per over with 5 wickets in hand will more often than not result in a win for the batting side. I have no idea ho deep the DLS method goes into pitch conditions & player ability, I don't think they are used, it's purely a mathematical equation, I believe. With big the hitting of Livingstone, Ali, Curran. along with Woakes, & Rashid who have batting talent, even Wood who can slog, had a good chance of chasing 158. Moeen was in the middle of an over, attacking Delaney, the rate could've been down the 8 with 2 more hits. Ireland would've come under pressure, as good as they'd bowled previously. On the other hand if wickets fall, England lose by a large margin.
In summation, just way too much guess work, & I would prefer to share the points.

It has worked up until now - particularly on the occasions England won via this method! It probably isn't perfect - no system appears to be so - but above my pay grade to come up with a better one.

Seems the mild mannered - well - spoken Buttler is a sore loser now too!! even if true, England have never slowed down over rates etc to their own advantage! It truly is pathetic that when the three lions are beaten at whatever sport it is, there are always reasons other than the opposition were just better!
