It's very much an on the day situation.
So many things can go right or wrong in such a short space of match time yet the momentum can switch with just one moment of genius or error. Tough to call.
Before a ball went down, I saw at least 6 teams capable of winning it, no real clear favourites, just some teams thank look stronger, on paper. India & Pakistan looks the best of the Asian nations, but Sri Lanka have just won the Asia Cup despite not being in the top 8 seeded teams.
What has surprised me has been how competitive the lower ranked sides have been. Although a shorter format game can tend to narrow the gap in class.
Felt sorry for Afghanistan who had a disjointed comp, with weather spoiling 2 of their 5 games.

I know that you can't have tournaments going on forever to take account of the rain, but maybe teams that can't play at all, should each get win (full) points?? You can at least have a chance to influence the outcome if you get on to the park (obviously)

The defeat sends the Proteas out the tournament and means Pakistan go through to the semis after they beat Bangladesh in an effective quarter final.

Barring an unlikely India defeat to Zimbabwe a clash of the titans beckons in the semi final i.e India v England.
Brutal or what?
A huge shock maybe (although is it?? as SA have previous in this regard) The Netherlands though won it SA did not necessarily lose it, but were simply outplayed. On other message boards that are less intelligent than this one, the narrative is how the 'orangemen' - no not that lot Big Laugh got past a poor SA side, but having watched the full match reply, I don't think you could argue that they were in any way fortunate - just better on the day!
It would be a shame if the weather played a huge part in deciding this competition's outcome. And I would agree Hornball I haven't seen any highlights but do think that SA probably are short of real talent in shorter game formats though I'm willing to admit over the years they have had some good 1day sides that just fell short.

I would agree either would be a great final but would be happier if either semi or final doesn't get hit by the weather and is ruined.
If we do take on India like I said, any score below 200 is doable if we are calm and not get too carried away. Anything over 250, we probably could chase down, but above that would be pushing it. But I have the feeling at least in either Semi or Final we could see a Super Over,
I don't think we've had one in this competition as of yet.

I think for me an England Pakistan final would be just as good as well as England V New Zealand.
What I would like to see is the ICC finding a way to make the qualifying competition more appealing to other smaller nations, I doubt the T20 could scale the heights of FIFA's World Cup, but I would think If they could stage one that is shared by England and the Netherland that could raise the profile a little more given how well Netherlands have performed in this one and I wouldn't be too worried if the final was staged in Holland either, it would be a great opportunity for Dutch cricket to develop further.

There are only 2 cricket grounds in the Netherlands that meet ICC regulations for staging such an event. The biggest one has a capacity if 4,500 people.
1st Semi Final New Zealand v Pakistan - Sydney (08.00 GMT)
New Zealand elected to bat
NZ 152-4 (20 overs) Williamson 46 Mitchell 48 no Conway 21 Shaheen 2-24
Pakistan 153-3 (19.1 overs) Rizwan 57 Babar 53 Haris 30 Boult 2-33
Pakistan won by 7 wickets
Of the two seni final I am thinking this could be the closer semi final of the two
2nd Semi Final England v India Adelaide (08.00)
England won the toss & elected to field
India 168-6 (20 overs) Hardik 63 Kohli 50 Rohit 27 Jordan 3-43

England won by 10 wickets
