Another shock result
GROUP B
Scotland 160 - 5 West Indies 118 all out
that i didn't expect to be as covincing as it was as I felt Scotland would push them hard and if they batted first a decent target but I would say West Indies are probably going to be the biggest team missing in the Super 12's if they are knocked out, and probably are still in rebuilding mode like maybe Sri Lanka are as well, but the margin of victiory for Scotland has taken me by surprise.
ourt Scottish Members wil be winding us up if they get through.
A big scalp for Scotland, but the Windies seem to be in a permanent state of turmoil. They are not strong enough to do without T20 stars like Russell & Narine. To make matters worse, they dropped Hetmyer from the squad for missing a rescheduled flight to Australia. Having disruptions & disputes going on behind the scenes is a distraction they can do without.
Much easier to have an upset in the shorter format T20, but take nothing away from Scotland. All the talk was about the pace of Munsey innings, who stagnated after a strong start, but he lost partners at a steady rate once he lost his opening partner Jones. Batting through finally gained reward as he struck 3 boundaries in the last over which went for 15. Still 66 not out from Mumsey, outmatched anything the Windies could provide, Holder top scored with 38. Aside from Davey, who took some punishment, the bowlers did their job. with the spinners Watt (3-12) & Leask (2-15) combining 5-27 from 8 overs.
Match 4 Goup B
Zimbabwe 174-7 Raza 82 Madhevere 22 Jongwe 20 no Little 3-24 Singh 2-31 Adar 2-39
Ireland 143-9 Campher 27 Dockrall 24 Delaney 24 McCarthy 22 no Muzarabani 3-24 Chhatara 2-22 Ngarva 2-22
Zimbabwe won by 31 runs
^ I have said this many times I know, but facts are facts - T20 is simply not Irelands bag!
True hornball feel they are in a development mode atm with various key personal have now retired
Whilst delighted for Scotland wasn't expecting much from them given a tough year I do agree with you boom both west indies and Sri Lanka are pretty average at best in 20/20 and shows why they need to play earlier than the bigger nations and they may pay the price and try and build towards the next world cup
To be fair to Ireland, the one point of difference was the innings by Raza. As can often happen, one player has a day out, especially a batter, & it's game over. 82 from 48 balls, 5 four, 5 sixes. Looking at his bio, he's 36, & has represented 29 teams.
I wonder if this is going to be a world cup where we get a shock winner
Have to say that innings from Raza for Zimbabwe was a belter. Wow.
