Just looked at the weather map for Taunton in the next four days! Maybe not as bad as we feared! There will be some stop/start no doubt, but forecast is for mainly light rain! I hope someone has the common sense to start in such conditions, as play may be able to continue. Otherwise we may be watching nothing, while playable conditions prevail!
So annoying, it's not rained down her in Somerset for 3 weeks , why couldn't that last bladewave
On a plus as predicted the pitch is like the desert and we have all 3 of our spinner playing, so eventhough I guess be no cricket rest of today looking at the sky and don't think there will be any tomorrow 2 days my still be enough for a result as it's only a 150 pitch at best, so will be short innings,
Taunton used to be what they termed as a 'featherbed' wasn't it?

It was disappointing to see so much of the day ruined by rain. The light rain prediction fell flat for sure!! More annoying was the typical Sky solution to the lack of play......instead of county relevant material, what did we get served up?? - Yep more England (that WC final) - hadn't seen that beforeSadRolleyes and related output! Oh and the obligatory hit at the county game, and how it doesn't do it's job adequately enough for England.

This time the pitches, and how they don't allow batsmen to score more and more runs. Someone said that what is needed is for the county batsmen to be able to score 1200 - 1300 runs a season, thus assisting them to step up to International level apparently. So flatter tracks, and Championship games later in the summer on quote:- 'better' tracks. I happen to think better batsmen are found batting on livelier tracks, Let us hope that days 2 thru 4 are better, so we can enjoy what we came for!

Danger is of course that Essex may choose to bat time knowing a draw is enough bladewave

I wonder if Somerset will go 'nuclear' and forfeit this 1st Inns -(declare on stupid numbers)- hoping to get Essex for next to nothing, hit a quick fire 2nd Inns total, and hope the pitch becomes 'unplayable'?? After all, they have nothing to lose - It is title or bust!
Somerset 203 all out.

Essex currently 25/0 in reply
I am struggling to see where Somerset go from here! It isn't as if they can knock on the Essex dressing room door, and arrange another one of these 'agreed' chases! - which are an abominable outcome btw. I think they are piling their chips on Essex capitulating with the bat, with the 'chequered flag' in sight! Not a cat in hells chance of that happening. Essex can sit tight and wait for the inevitable conclusion.

I really do wish someone had suggested they waited for good weather! - (ok not until Xmas:bounceSmile) No other club was in the running for the spoils, so it really wouldn't have mattered!
To be fair Somerset mucked it up by losing their second last game
If the ICC was to reintroduce cricket to free to air then there is no reason why they can't make the 2020 County season free to air!! Come on BBC dig deep, and get the county games on Free to air!! Smile Tongue
