This match was doomed before it started after 2 weeks of wet weather. The bowlers run ups from one end was the main concern. I wonder if they could've looked at a switch to Cheltenham as it's only 20 minutes up the road.

^ and more of the same over the next four days - after tomorrow!! Shows the absolute folly, and total stupidity of reducing draw points - particularly in such situations. How much did the 'brains' trust behind this change, factor in the weather?? Not at all it seems. Another example of just how little the county championship is valued! Ironic that the draw (and we will see it throughout the summer - I can almost guarantee it) - is still seen as sacrosanct at test level. Bazball be damned!!
Frustrating stream down Taunton way today, but saw enough to suggest that - despite early struggles, Somerset showed enough to suggest that they will have a comfortable season - if not challenging for the spoils! Abell showing - not for the first time - that maybe higher international duties may still come his way! Quality knock (alongside Rew) to rescue the cidermen, and give them the edge on day one! Hopefully forecast is wrong, and we get fewer interruptions than seems probable at this stage! Jmmy A got more overs in than I might have thought, with 'instructions' from 'on high', and was looking good!
An inevitable draw (although Lancs maybe should have forced it more with J Anderson having more overs) at Somerset. Top performances though, with nothing asked or given, so a draw that was a better contest than it may seem. The weather thankfully didn't have the impact feared either really bar one lengthy delay!

At Lords Nottinghamshire - while they may be commended by some for setting a reasonable target - maybe didn't show the professionalism the sport deserves by playing to a natural conclusion, and really handed the points to Middlesex! A consequence of the reduction in draw bonus points for sure, and doubtless some will see this as a justification of that decision, but is it really what sport is about??
Yorkshire were robbed by the weather, after looking 2nd favourites they turned the game on it's head on day 3, should've wrapped the game up today inside an hour, but no play was possible with the ground unfit.
Already into Round 4, yet not a full complement of fixtures. No excuse at this point in the season, & with 10 & 8 in each Division there's no reason why all sides can't play. Coaches have called for rest/training days throughout the season, but teams have missed a week after round 1 & 2.

Div 1 has Surrey visiting Edgbaston & Kent visit Lords.

Div 2 Derbyshire travel to Chester-le-Street, Leicestershire host Glamorgan & Sussex visit Bristol
