Only Disappointed Booms?? I might - if I had an allegiance to Yorkshire - be a bit more forceful than that!!

Finally Yorkshire get their first choice opening bowlers in a match for the first time this season, but lacked enough class batsman to compile an adequate total. Just one of Brook (107.44), Malan (66.0), Root (58.5) would've made the difference. These 3 occupy the top 3 Yorkshire batters, with Tattersall (48.0) next best, after these the rest average in the 30's & 20's.
I wonder if the England management will want Root to play any Division 2 Championship cricket next season, with the standard being so poor, they'll with more than likely just let him play golf instead.
Or worse they will 'orchestrate a move' for him! eek did I just think the unthinkable?? Hasn't happened before (Broad) - now has it?? The fact is that if the CC is not fit for purpose (nonsense and we all know it) Team England's heirarchy have contributed to that outcome. They diminish it - and the participation of the counties playing in it - by the illogical and inconsistent decisions over England player availability. The County Clubs can't seem to do right for doing wrong (in the eyes of those with skewed priorities it should be said)

You called it Big Grin
Well here we go again with another county domestic season, and the much maligned (yet highly valuable) County Championship starting tomorrow (weather ?? as usual - super excited actually at the start of a new term) Some interesting match ups across the board, but my go to will be Essex travelling to Lords to take on Middlesex. Sky - having thought long and hard about it no doubt, are at old Trafford for Lancs V Surrey! I wonder how many CC matches they will show this term??

I will keep an eye on Derbyshire to see if Mickey Arthur can continue Derbyshire's resurgence and maybe even gain promotion! I also hope Leicestershire confound the critics, if only to stop the season after season debate over 'reducing counties'.

A good change may be to see the winner of the Minor Counties final take their place in Div 2 - at least for a season - and the bottom First Class county drop down for a term??

As a side note : I still do not like the uneven number of matches played. Home and away against all other teams in the same division should always be the norm
My team is in division 2 so I will be paying most attention to that.
The cricket section of the BBC Sport app has live ball by ball commentary of every game so I will be utilising that for sure.

Have the BBC dropped the 5 live sports extra coverage?? Better not have without a discussion!!
^^ BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra will feature Lancashire v Surrey.
The best team in the land are playing in the opening fixture today from Old Trafford.
And against them is the reigning fair weather champions Surrey.
Stop/Start day at headquarters today for the first day of the season (who knew that would happen??Smile) Essex 162 for 3 at what looks like the close with a doomsday cloud hanging over the ground, but an interesting day with Essex fighting back after losing early wickets, Westley and Lawrence steadying the ship! Toby Roland Jones the stand out bowler - the type of consistency you pray for as a bowler on the first day at the office.

Over at Sky, even approaching the close, but Foakes (if on England watch) makes another statement that he is the man at #7 and behind the sticks. Looking forward to catching the highlights later on!

Great to be back!!
Somerset being Somerset we didn't manage to play yesterday as the pitch is waterlogged,
To be fair we did have a lot of rain the 24 hours before the match,
My mate went down yesterday and sent me a picture one end of the outfield is just mud no grass on it, looks like the new stand has messed up the drainage at that end Rolleyes
Be amazed if we start before lunch today, and wouldn't be surprised if we don't start till after tea , I hope this doesn't see us getting a points deduction
England batsmen Dawid Malan and Zak Crawley both had good days today.

Malan hit 132 for Yorkshire against Leicestershire while Crawley made 91 for Kent against Northamptonshire.
