In a response to the press release from Six TV, a spokesperson for NICAM wrote in an email to Broadband TV News: “NICAM issues the highest age classification for porn in the Netherlands, 16 years, because it can be harmful for children. This implies that [such content] cannot be broadcast before 10pm. The Dutch legislator, hence also NICAM, are of the opinion that by that time children should be in bed and that adults should be able to decide what to watch and what not to watch. Indeed, NICAM does not participate in a discussion about morals or good taste when it comes to what adults can watch.”

Well there you have it then folks, fantastic and exactly the kind of response and outcome we were all hoping for, many thanks go to Shylok for finding the source which those at Ofcom won't obviously want to publish because it completely contradicts everything they stand for. victory at long last Big Grin Ofcom's meddling has now made for a momentous turning point in the history of the babe channels, so much so that now Eurotic TV has shown an interest in broadcasting their show also on the UK Babe Channels, through all the ranting and raving this is now a time for a rye smile Smile Make no mistake this is a huge breakthough, now where did I put the champaigne Big Grin Ofcom go fuck yourselves Big Laugh

Thanks Shylok, as you say, the quote was from the Broadband TV News website on March 8, link here http://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2012/03/0...-channels/

They state "the reason why Six TV is drawing attention to these adult channels is that viewers have to zap via these so-called sex channels in order to reach a local Six TV station."
Yeah, right, when people want to go from channel 1 to channel 201 or whatever they always click up through every single channel in turn and usually start half an hour before the show they want to see because it takes so long.
The adult channels have "bookend" channels to protect against that sort of thing, exactly in line with Ofcom requirements.

This line is particularly telling about attitudes to censorship and should make the control freaks squirm: "NICAM does not participate in a discussion about morals or good taste when it comes to what adults can watch"

Broadband TV News was founded in 2003 by former Cable & Satellite Europe journalists Robert Briel, Julian Clover and Chris Dziadul and provides readers with a concise summary of what’s happening in cable, satellite, mobile and IPTV for busy decision-makers through a combination of advertising supported and paid for products.
Well Ofcom all I can say is HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA, take that you fuckers
If my memory serves me correctly this is the first ever victory over Ofcom for any of the babe channels. Ofcom oh yes they will be licking their wounds, they will not be happy Big Grin but I say fuck you, let's hope that this is the first of many victorys for the babe channels. I strongly recommend that every single channel applies for a Dutch Licence, just think how good the show's would be Big Grin
In Hindsight, I don't know why we got worked up about this, It was never going to work, I mean complaining to the Dutch?
Interesting points, and I agree with NICAM's stance to be honest (which im sure may suprise certain peopleSmile )

However it doesnt really alter the fact OFCOM dont agree with their stance which is where the underlying problem has been is anyone aware if the other channels have applied for dutch license since this statement?
This doesn't change the fact that, according to an earlier post (here), there is a process whereby Ofcom can seek to make the dutch authority bring Cellcasts broadcasts in line with it's (Ofcom's) tougher rules.

The latter shall then issue a non-binding request for the broadcaster to comply with the stricter rules of the targeted country.

•if the broadcaster circumvents these national rules, the objecting country can also - with the Commission's prior approval – take binding measures (circumvention procedure).

It may well be that Ofcom expected this initial response, but recognised that they had to go through the procedures one by one to get to their end-goal.

This may be 15-love but it may not be game over quite yet.

Just caught this on Sky. I think the first two minutes are very relevant Big Laugh

Just a thought.

Maybe a well reasoned (and timely) argument from 'our side' to NICAM would be pertinent. I know they have no direct jurisdiction over the 'UK airwaves' but it could help reinforce the message that 'we the people in the UK' are royally pissed off with our own 'regulator' and thoroughly support the Dutch stance/policies... We could copy it to our MEP(s) too...

Maybe someone clever like eccles could draft a missive? I'm so desperately keen to fight these OFCOM junket loving bastards at every opportunity (and thereby protect the UK's dwindling freedoms - thanks for this BTW Mr [liberal] Clegg I won't believe you again before an election in a hurry!)...

No. Let due process take its course - could be seen as interference?
