Boris should be setting an example on this!! Which leads me to thinking it is time cyclists had some sort of licence plate on their bike if they want to ride on the road and pay some sort of tax on road use.

Good grief you post some utter nonsense.

Let's get a few things clear. The only people with a RIGHT to be on a road in this country are pedestrians, Horse Riders and (don't get angry) Cyclists.

Drivers must be licensed and insured and their vehicles tested where appropriate. This is because of the disproportionate amount of injuries & damage caused when they are involved in an accident.

Taxation? EVERYONE pays for the roads out of general taxation and is therefore entitled to use them. "Road Tax" has not existed since God was a lad and is now known as Vehicle Excise Duty and based on emissions. There are hundreds of thousands of cars on the road (including Electric ones) that are exempt from VED so why should someone on a Bike pay it?

Number plates? Have a word with yourself. There are more cars on the road with cloned plates than there are people on bikes causing problems.
so why should someone on a Bike pay it?
They never have done or have made a contribution to road tax. Even if they have done I doubt it get an mention
In a perfect world cyclists should have their own routes.
But it's not so they have to either put themselves in danger by using the roads. Or use the pavements and risk harming pedestrians.

And now we have the added problem as to how to govern the use of segways and electric scooters & bikes.
There's me for weeks thinking "I should start a thread called 'Road Rage' because I can't be the only one, surely..?"

Missed my chance now Sad
Dominic "Are you married?" Littlewood as a contestant on Celebrity Masterchef? They must have been bloody desperate.
could have been worse.... could have been Dominic Cummings - what's the betting he'll pop up on Strictly in future?
Channel hopping the other night, I came across " celebrity " coach trip. I didn't recognize any of them. Where do they find these z list muppets ? Real celebs with successful careers don't lower themselves to appear on crap like this.these shows all seem to be full of big brother/ love island knuckleheads.
Would we want TV babes on that sort of thing?
Didn't I read that Grace Elisabeth had applied to do some baking or cook someone a dinner.

i was told the other day, that the guy who invented the segway actually fell off a cliff while riding one.... ironic? but the same company are also behind the sudden surge in these blasted scooters.

can anyone tell me why they are going to allow 'hired' scooters to use the roads, but not privately owned ones? and how are the cops going to deal with checking this out?

They're currently classed as Motor Vehicles and need to be tested & insured. The hire fee will include insurance (I'm assuming basic 3rd Party Cover) and the hirer will need a Provisional License as a minimum.
