Leicester team of the year had to be
There are some songs that just can't be improved. It's a shame David Bowie isn't around to sing this.
Hmmmm thinking they say sport is good for your health seemed to be a lot of young sportspeople in that montage of who have died
Wayne Rooney just texted Giggsy begging him to ask Mary Peters for her number.

But it shouldn't have been.

For me the Olympics is a bigger event than the Premier League - look I know Leicester as a no-hoper 5000-1 shot winning the title is big news - of course it is - but I think the team award should go to a part of the Olympics as that was the main event of the year. The women's hockey team deserved it more for me - and they should have celebrated the achievements of our athletes and para-lympians in that regard.

That's why I'd never consider a footballer for the individual award - that's more of a team orientated achievement and Jamie Vardy admitted himself that his nomination wouldn't have been possible without the rest of his team mates. So thank God a footballer didn't win it.

You're all right about Balding though - she does have a way of interrupting people when they're trying to speak. A very annoying woman indeed. In fact she showed those "qualities" when she was helping to present the swimming at Rio.
Leicester winning the team award is an interesting one.
I suspect the reason for their win was the romance of it. A team comes from nowhere against all the odds to win a Premier League title. Maybe the thinking was it is a once in a generation type scenario.
Not saying I agree with the decision but I can understand it.
I think the hockey ladies and the Rugby Union mens team had pretty strong cases too but it is a tough one.
Team and individual were the right results for me. Leicester were an absolute no-brainer. You have to take out all the opinions about the Premier League/Olympics etc and simply judge on the level of the achievement. England were European hockey champions going into the Olympics and a tournament in which very few nations could realistically win, and they could call on additional players from all of GB. Leicester were relegation favourites in many people's eyes and achieved something nobody, and I mean nobody, thought was possible in this day and age. Congratulations to all the winners, it might not be everybody's cup of tea but I still love the show and the debates that surround it every year show that the prestige of the main awards remain intact.

Sorry But team GB and Paralympics will have a chance of winning in future dont think the hockey team winning was that impressive they were not really underdogs they had been there or there abouts for years it was like portugal winning euros there or there abouts who won because others slipped up

Would have been hoohah if they had picked team GB over paralympics GB should have been team gb together

the leicester story was a good one and it is a once in a generation in fact would say only one to come close was my rovers 20 years before
Team GB could not win the award because it isn't a team but a ad man's concept. There's no relation between any of the parts. A team wins together and loses together.
Team GB lauds the winners and the losers slink back home.
