Something that would settle the debt before the sun stops shining.

hasnt really answered the question. Before so much hate is put on someone trying to clear his debt (even if ridiculously slowly!) at £1 a month. put yourself in his shoes, he has no job. I am guessing he is not a homeowner, doesnt have a car of any considerable value, other debts and probably isnt independantly wealthy (despite his claims to girls). What more could you offer?
How did this pleb afford the £700 bankruptcy cost? Even if they waived the court fee he would have still had to pay £525 to the official receiver.
i would think its more likely a family member will lend him a few hundred for this cost vs £91k to clear his debt Wink . I am not sure if it could be covered under legal aid?

No, legal aid doesn't cover bankruptcy. To apply for bankruptcy you have to cough up £525 no matter what.
#bankofmumanddad Wink
Perhaps he's paying the receiver back at a quid a month, apparently that's a fair deal!

Seriously though isn't this fee only payable is he applied for the bankruptcy himself? If Voda made him bankrupt I don't think it applies.

Vodafone were quoted in the press as saying they were aware he had been declared bankrupt. Which presumably means they weren't behind it themselves.

Thanks for sharing your story, very insightful. I think a few people would say they have had very similar experiences.

You're actually taking that seriously with paragraphs like this? Rolleyes

Quote:Over the next few days I took various courses of action to purge my fixation, beginning with me dropping the external hard drive I had stored my Caty videos on out of a window. This failed to bring about its destruction, however, as it just bounced when it struck the ground and didn’t smash. I went outside with a hammer to complete the job and rid myself of this Pandora's Box, but as I pounded the hard drive into a terminal state I realised it would have been easier to just delete the videos. It was too late and the damage was now irreversible, so I thought about trying to use the power of my mind to go back in time to the moment just before I dropped the device. I then realised this was stupid and accepted the hard drive's demise

Yes, despite Kev blaming all his woes on the babeshows, lets not forget he had other creditors to the tune of £55k.

He's not 'trying to clear his debt' because at £1/month it's not 'ridiculously slowly', it's impossible.
If all I could afford, on a debt that size, was £1/month I wouldn't bother offering anything because I would be able to see how big a fool it would make me look.

Of course he could be immortal, in which case £1/month is fine Cool

Doesn't the fact that he managed to find £525 from somewhere make a mockery of his claim that he couldn't pay Vodafone anything more than £12 a year?

in a court, if he wanted to avoid losing a home or possessions to pay for the debt, avoid additional interest and keep creditors off his back whilst waiting for his bankruptcy hearing this offer (regardless of how long it takes, its relative to his situation) would be seen as making an offer to pay the debt.
Paying nothing could lead to bailiffs attending his home to remove items to auction towards the debt, would result in constant phonecalls and communication with the creditor or debt recovery companies which is probably not helping his mental state. You have already acknowledged £55k of other debt (which i expect was to do with gifts for girls too), can you imagine the stress of getting calls every day for £145k when your getting about £50 a week? Creditors are not allowed to constantly harass for debts that you have agreed a minimum payment for and stuck to. As I have said I dont agree with what he is done I would be too ashamed to run to the papers for a start but realistically this is what he needs to do.
You cant just walk into the courts on a monday and ask to be made bankrupt, him sourcing money along with waiting for the hearing date will probably have been going on for a few months.
This isnt our hero offering it to stick it to the man, this is how the system works, get yourself in debt, lose your job so you have limited funds and see what any debt advisory company, the Citizens Advice or similar professional will advise you to do.
