Just got my new broadband installed.

This was my speed before, with no uploads or downloads in progress.



This is my speed now, recording 4 RLC streams at once.



Quite happy with that

Nice, I'm particularly envious of that upload speed, that is about the same as my current download speed!
Upload is almost more important for me than download, I can live with my current download speed, but would love faster upload, even if I had to pay for it.

What service is that, adsl/cable/fibre? I'm on standard TalkTalk adsl, I was thinking of switching to a business account, but they kept telling me I would need a new cable installed for that (can't quite see why, surely they just re-route it at the box/exchange), so I figured I'd leave it and probably get fibre eventually, but just don't really need it yet.

^^ Its BT Infinity 2 fibre optic.

I tested mine at 5pm today, it was about the same as it usually is.
I can match you on the ping, but nowhere near for the other 2.

I got sick of bitching and moaning about BT and cancelled everything and went to Virgin a few years ago.

I was originally on the 20mbps package that seemed line luxury but I eventually went to the 30mbps for that little bit of extra oomph when downloading large files.

They started the old doublespeed stuff which should have got be to 60mbps but there was some issues in my area and so they moved me to 50mbps in the interim. When the doublespeed hit I of course then moved from 50mbps to 100mbps and recently got the seperate bump to 120mbps that the 100mbps customer got too.

To cut a long story short, I have gone from 3.8mbps with BT four years ago to 120+ mbps for a little over a tenner a month beyond what I was paying with BT. The savings on the phone side of my package balance out the increase in internet connection costs and are well worth the differnce, all while BT are stating that anything other than plain old ADSL won't be available in my town for at least another year!

Cheers Virgin for the free upgrades and speed-band re-organisations that have gotten me to my current speed.



Like others have said though, I would gladly sacrifice some speed for a faster upload.
