I didnt think we couldnt beat canada either mainly because they were a physical side who liked to put it about and had the referees on there side in the last few games
Top result. I'm delighted for the girls. They put in a lot of effort and skill and ended up getting the result that they deserved.
People have always said that women's football will never be at the same level as the men's game in this country and they are right, the girls are a lot better. The U21s could learn a lot about team spirit from watching them and that goofy twat Gareth Southgate could get some coaching tips from Mark Sampson.
Fantastic performance from the lionesses Smile bring on Japan

Your abuse of the U21s isn't justified, bearing in mind they played this summer's tournament with virtually a second team. Getting to the last 8 in those circumstances wasn't a bad performance at all. To win such tournaments you really need to put your best team out.

I doubt if anyone of sound mind said that because there are no facts to back it up. In recent tournaments the England men and the England women have had very similar results. You have to go back to the 1990s to find the last time that men were clearly doing better than the women.
Don't get me wrong in terms of effort, commitment and energy the women's game matches the men. But in terms of skill and quality you have to be joking.
No doubting that you do see some skill and quality but in very little doses. England defended with great heart and resolution but they did make a lot of mistakes and allowed quite a few free headers and other chances. Any decent men's side would have buried them. I was very impressed with the physicality of both teams but not even the most pc of males can honestly believe the quality is anywhere near the men's game. A decent amateur male team would have beaten either side without having to get out of second gear.

Regardless it was a fantastic effort by our lionesses and will be eagerly looking forward to the semi against Japan.
Having a professional league and a season that runs from March to November has helped women's game progress in England. Suspending league and giving Mark Sampson some 4 weeks with team before tournament will no doubt have helped too
Apparently you can prevent a clear goal scoring opportunity and only get only yellow card and you can jump into area and get a penalty
World Cup Semi Final - Montreal:

Full Time:
USA 2-0 GERMANY

Celia Sasic missed a penalty for Germany before USA then won a penalty themselves and converted it before scoring a second late on to seal a place in the 2015 World Cup Final.

England will meet Japan tomorrow night for the right to face the Americans in the Sunday showpiece final.

Germany now must face the losers of the other semi final in the 3rd/4th place playoff on Saturday night.
