People you never saw but heard in television here and abroad:
'Er indoors' Arthur Daley's wife never seen nor heard in Minder.
Charlie( of Charles Townsend investigations) of Charlie's Angels(later revealed to be John Forsythe)only heard over the intercom but never seen(except from the back once)
Elizabeth Mainwaring - battle-axe wife of Captain Mainwaring in Dad's Army(appeared as 'lump' above Mainwaring on a bunk) Never seen nor heard.
Orson-the alien chief in Mork and Mindy-only heard.
Carlton(Hello, I'm Carlton your doorman!) the doorman of the apartment block where Rhoda lived(if you remember that seventies series) Identified later as actor Lorenzo Music-also did cartoon voices like Ghostbusters and Garfield.
Just remembered another one Robin Masters owner of the Estate in Magnum, PI(original series) but some people reckoned it was Jonathan Q Higgins's real alias.
The original cut of Rambo First Blood was over two hours long but the test audience found the film boring and didn’t like the original ending, so the film was edited down to over 90 mins giving the film a faster pace and ending changed.
Actor Rick Cosnett who played Eddie Thawne in Season 1 of The Flash was originally cast as Jay Garrick in the first season and was going to be a mentor to Barry Allen/Ths Flash but he was changed to Eddie Thawne and Barry’s mentor became Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash.
In the film version of Cluedo(in the US shortened to Clue) at a few stages you can clearly see a sound boom in shot both above and below the actors.
Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, Steve McQueen, Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Muhammad Ali, and Sylvester Stallone were all on the list to play Superman but Director Richard Donner wanted a unknown actor and cast Christopher Reeve and the rest is history.
Whenever you see an audience clapping after a panel show or a programme like A Question of Sport these shots are done first before any filming commences. This is so they can intercut it seamlessly into the programme during post-production. I know this is true because I have been to a recording(and indeed took part in a dummy run) of A Question of Sport in the 80's and we were asked to start applauding to be added later. Also the floor manager raises his arms to get us to clap and lowers them again to stop - sometimes you don't need that.
Originally Joe West was going to be killed by Weather Wizard in season 1 of The Flash and if you remember he was captured by him and Barry had to travel to fix everything all causing a new timeline. His death was scraped because the producers liked Jessie L Martin so much that rewrote it to keep him alive.
Rik Mayall formerly of The Young Ones, Bottom and other comedies was due to play the mischievious sprite Peeves(as mentioned in the book) in the first Harry Potter film 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' but due technical difficulties and the special effects his stuff was cut out. Rik is reported to have said "it's the best film I ever did, lying around doing nothing and being paid for it!" Big Grin
More Flash Trivia in the first season when ever Grant Gustin was running as the Flash it was filmed with him running on the spot and sometimes using a tread mill but it changed in the later seasons with him swinging his arms in a running motion but his not actually running on the spot any more.
