Have tried logging in & out. Router on and off. That's about as technical as I get

There's nothing you can do about it. I posted this info yesterday elsewhere; Both Megaupload & Filesonic were added to the IWF list a few days ago. This means that people whose ISP (e.g. O2, Be Unlimited) have subscribed to the IWF list won't be able to download from MU or Filesonic until your ISP sorts out a resolution or IWF take them off the list. The same happened with Hotfile a few weeks ago and it took 2+ weeks to resolve. Out of interest, which ISP are you with?

I uploaded a vid to Megaupload yesterday of Geri and Tiffany.
Just checked a few minutes ago. Its been downloaded 18 times so far, so its working for some people. I use Talk Talk without problems.

As a point of interest, I have just noticed that a lot of the old PartyGirl vids, that I uploaded a long time ago as an anonymous user before I created an account with them, are still there and will now play in their embedded megavideo player.
This player option was not available when they were uploaded, you had to download to watch.
Index of vids is here

Yes - it depends on two things - one whether your ISP is signed up to the IWF filter and two, how your ISP deals with it. With my limited understanding and from reading the ever-growing thread of complaints and tech-speak on its user-forum, my ISP (BE/O2) causes its members to access a site that has a filtered URL using a proxy. Therefore all of my ISPs members essentially then have the same IP address which causes Megaupload to believe one person is trying to access its system too many times and prevents download.
Thanks skateguy
I use O2 so that may explain a few things?
It's only become a problem within the last few days.
Never a problem with O2 & megaupload before last Friday?
That's right Dave - it was from last Friday this began. I'm with Be Unlimited (part of O2). There's a large thread about it on the Be user forum - I don't know whether you can access it using your O2 login details. https://avatar.bethere.co.uk/forum/viewt...hp?t=30914
I'm on Be, it's annoying.

I have found that if I use the Tor network (http://www.torproject.org/) then it bypasses the proxy used to implement the IWF list. It does mean that you're liable to be told to get lost for parallel downloads, and the speed is slower, but for access to stuff you really want whilst they sort it out it's alright.

I run Ubuntu myself, so I can't tell people how to set this up on Windows I'm afraid (though it can be done). If it's useful to anyone I used this tutorial to get it sorted - http://charlessocci.com/2008/12/15/anony...y-and-tor/
I contacted O2 about this problem
Funny they never mentioned the IWF in fact they said it was nothing to do with them!
Told me to try the website again in 24 hours!
Hi guys
I use Tiscali , which was bought by Talk Talk and have had
abymsmal d/l speeds @ MegaUpload since last week. The support
team suggested I contact my ISP... I was unaware of this IWF mob.

Any way I await a reply from Talk Talk support having forwarded the
MU support teams reply to them.

Skate ? You say HF had this problem and it took a fortnight to resolve..
Is HF back to normal now then ?

Cheers

Yes, it is for me.

Just tried MU and its working again - it might just be because less users are around at 3.30am - the real test will be whether its working during the day.

EDIT: That was short lived...30 minutes later and I'm back to getting the "We have detected an elevated number of requests from your IP address" message again.
I am also trying an MU d/l now (I thought it would be quiet at this time)

I use the Megamanager for my d/l and have been getting a lot of "Request time out - error code 905". The d/l just stops and coz
I have it set to RETRY it eventually continues , but the over-all elapsed time for the d/l is twice or thrice the norm.

My d/l is still chugging but I could be going to bed at dawn at this rate Tongue

Edit: Thanks for the hopeful news abt HF...perhaps MU will also be OK soon

Edit2: I use Google Mail which keeps a record of the IP addresses that use my Gmail account over the last few days.
And assuming I havent been hacked , then I have a different IP each day
when will they fix this
what am i supposed to do
im on O2
