this is where the request thread should be utilized. if someone comes across an old link that happens to be MU hopefully the original uploader still has it. i dont think its necessary for uploaders here to be reuploading all their links from the past few week unless actually requested. or else with over 5500 files quiquems wont be sleeping for the next yearBig Grin
Yep, I always thought of MU as a pretty safe bet, especialy after what happened to Rapidshare and MU pulled the plug on rewards ( I never got enough downloads to get full benefit of rewards so it didn`t bother me when it happened), so I have about 150 gig of files that are lost totally. As for the future for me, I don`t know. I`ve got loads of stuff ready and edited, just not sure where to upload. Sendspace and Mediafire are good free user hosts, but I reckon if they get a substantial increase in traffic due to the closedown of MU, then it won`t be long before they go. Pay hosts like Filesonic, Oron and the others are awful for free users, especially here in the UK, so, for now, I`m going to take a bit of a break and see what happens in the coming days/weeks and probably follow the flow and use what host(s) other uploaders move to.

Apologies for the shedload of dead links that have my username to them, but plaese don`t ask for reposts, I haven`t got the backups Sad

found that on the Anonymous twitter, who have been very "vocal" about all this.

Don't click on any links supplied by Anonymous. They are fake links which redirect you to the US Dept of Justice site, making you part of a denial of service attack (for which you can get up to 10 years in prison).
been thinking might use torrents for videos but the problem is if i did would people seed them or just close the torrent we all do it ?

http://torrentfreak.com/how-to-create-a-torrent/ looks pretty simple using torrent software

Maybe you could ask the FBI to send you your files from the Megaupload confiscated servers?

Of course it's only a crime to take part in a denial of service attack if you do it deliberately, not if you innocently click on a link.

The problem is always getting enough seeders, especially for vids like these, and also many users can only just manage to cope with the file hosters, they wouldn't have a clue how to download a torrent (not being nasty, just realistic).

For less than 20quid you can get a full server with 1TB drive. If you can handle setting it up, you can either share your files directly from there, or do as others do and load a torrent client on there and seed your files from that 24-7.

As for other hosters, filesonic is being increasingly used by the 'pirate' groups these days, and they have improved considerably for free downloaders. Oron is OK with a paid account, but virtually inaccessible otherwise. I guess rapidshare is once again an option for some, but after they wiped all my content previously, I'll not go back there (ironically, I just recently upped everything I had left to megaupload bladewave).
Depositfiles is hit and miss for me, not really an option, and hotfiles has gone more downhill than rapidshare. Others like wupload and fileserve really need paid accounts to be of use as well, so for me filesonic looks the best option right now.

Anyone know about multiupload, I always thought they looked like an off-shoot of mega, but I'm guessing not. I know they do direct downloads as well as links to other hosters, but there seems to be little information on how it all works.

tremendous idea elgar, yes ask the FBI to send robby his files, i'm sure they will send them to him asap, it'll probably be regarded by them as a #1 priority

Guessing they will say if you only got the link from a hacker group twitter account you could be said to have done it with premediated (think thats how its spelt Tongue)

send me the link to that place for a server for 20 quid a month just going thru options willing to spend about £20 a month on something if its reliable and safe i mean for all the videos and stuff i download of the forum it would be worth it
