No you cannot access/download any thing on the megaupload site, the FBI logo is still the front end of the site.

At least the Megaupload data hasn't been deleted yet and still currently exists on the Megaupload servers.

Heres some news for the uploaders that didnt have backups of their MU files. Megauploads laywer team are trying to negotiate with the DOJ to allow users to re-download their own files. Negotiating with the DOJ doesnt sound very assuring but what the hell its better than nothing.
Funnily enough its been revealed that some MU users are high-ranked US government officialsBounce

You'd think the FBI would have more important things to do than stopping people looking at tits!!!!
A very interesting turn in the MU case. I can remember reading(and wondered myself) all around the internet how it was possible for the US government to takedown a foreign company. Apparently it wasnt possible at all.

The US government can file criminal charges against a person outside of their country. They cannot however serve a company(Megaupload) with criminal charges, which is what they tried to do. As a result the trial will probably never happen and MU was basically destroyed without any proper legal action.bladewave Complete epic fail. Hopefully soon they will make a decision on what will happen to all the servers they confiscated as evidence.

Is it though?
MU is gone, and most of the other file-hosters have cleaned their servers and in some cases, stopped sharing completely. I'd say that's the result they really wanted.
I did say at the time that I could forsee the case eventually collapsing but the real damage would already have been done by then.
they (the american government) would have known this outcome. but they've proper fucked up file sharing which was the point!

All true, more of a point that its a very embarrassing blunder on their part. But then again to say didnt have an idea this would happen would be fairly naive. Not sure what kind of case Dotcom is planning now but its bound to be very enlightening.Wink
Dotcoms under house arrest and along with others were all released on bail.

This isn't true. No servers were ever confiscated. The servers are still with the hosting company, where they always have been (gathering dust at the moment). The police had a search warrant to search the servers, not to confiscate them.

Apologies, shouldnt have written this out in a rush.Tongue Youre right they werent confiscated. The hosting company though is still waiting for a decision on what to do with the info on the servers. Last I read they too were waiting to get suedBounce
