Channel 98 is actually 16:9 not 4:3
It has a better picture quality than all the other babe channels as well.

I don't see how it can draw attention to anything - you won't see it unless you're flicking through the channels.

As for a waste of time, it depends in your viewpoint. It will undoubtedly serve as a warning for anyone just flicking through the channels via the 'up' and 'down' buttons, but what good is that? The whole concept is based on Ofcom's bizarre belief that flicking thorough the channels like this is the way most viewers change channels. On analogue, with only 5 channels to flick through, maybe - but on Freeview, with 96 channels??? I think not.

Not really. I don't know the technicalities but I wouldn't think a single text page can't take up much capacity and the channel numbers can always be swapped around according to need.

I doubt that the message uses much resources.
When changing to the channel, a little box pops up for a second saying "loading interactive services".
The full message appears a second or so later.
I assume it is something like the teletext service, in that the data just has to be loaded once and then stays in the TVs memory.
They only need to transmit the info every few seconds to catch people who just tune in to it.
Since the ch99 signal is multiplexed with other channels anyway, very little of the total bandwith for that multiplex would be required.
LCN20 has been renamed Channel One. Some boxes will need rescanning; others detect the new service name automatically.
SDN offering new data capacity from November

would smlietv be interested in this They were using an ultra low bit rate last time they were on Mux A IIRC.

found this on ofcom's site
Quote:Five said it would not object if Ofcom were to apply differential scheduling rules to Freeview, so that while Adult Chat PTV services could broadcast after 9pm on some platforms, they would be restricted until 11pm or midnight on Freeview.
so this could be why channel 96 still come's on at 11pm

That was when they were objecting to a total ban. Ofcom went for the midnight option, so it can't explain the 11pm start. BS is immune from the midnight watershed because it isn't regulated by Ofcom, as I've already pointed out: http://www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.ph...#pid608793
Jada was Naked way before midnight on ch96 this is good news look like the new Licens has kick in Big Grin
