Manchester City left the Super League so they can continue to dominate the Premier League.

Liverpool have now withdrawn

Liverpool Football Club can confirm that our involvement in proposed plans to form a European Super League has been discontinued.

In recent days, the club has received representations from various key stakeholders, both internally and externally, and we would like to thank them for their valuable contributions.

All six english clubs have now withdrawn from the Super League.

Hopefully they get punished but now the club's have resigned on there own merit they probably won't get punished now.

Why put a spanner in the money printing machine

Whats the betting this new CL format gets dropped to something more like what the 12 were proposing and a bigger share of revenue

the likes or Woodward and the Juventus Chairmen have gone might see 1 or 2 maybe the Real chairmen the guy behind this

Just wonder how concerned fans of Barca & RM now are for the futures of those clubs.
Whatever way you dress it up, this was concoted to help those clubs get out of the financial shit they were in.

I have read somewhere that JP Morgan weren't going to stump up the cash for it, as Perez probably believed they would. I hope this now makes all the clubs realise that they have to get their financial shit in order to survive for the good of the game both at a European and world level but also at a domestic level too & hopefully will finally put an end to the sort of eye watering transfers we have grown accustomed to.

Whether it can be acheived by transfer caps and salary caps I'm not sure, but for me, the game has to have a long look at itself at every branch and level in this country and do the decent thing - get itself cleaned up at at every root and branch so that the financial aspect of the game is secure and sustained and works so that it DOES reach where it is needed most.

But mark my words it will take time and I would not be surprised if this shit rears it head in a few years' time. I doubt it like li e doemant for long.
Getting the greedy owners out will not be an easy thing but if it can be done it will make it far far easier to implement our own German model.
That HAS to happen no matter what and has to be implemented at every step of the pyramid. At the clubs where it is implemented in Germany, it shows it can work, but my gut feeling is that a small percentage of shares will likely be retained by the Government for a period of time until financial side of things at esch club becomes stable and then that percentage is given to the fans. but it has to be done I think so that fan ownership stake is far greater here than it is in Germany and those shares possibly CAN'T be sold.

Once that is done the we can turn our attention on to the other leech in our game - the Agents.

I'd like to see the owners who were involved kicked out of every club involved and never be allowed back into football ever again.
What they weren't prepared for I bet was the storm of opposition right across the football world and bet they were shitting themselves as the crackpot idea collapsed bit by bit last night. It was CARNAGE, but beautiful to see!!!
All I hope now we can finally find out if they were creaming money out of the clubs itself into their own pockets and I'm betting it will make shocking reading if it was laid bare for all to see and probably might even show the clubs to be in a far worse position than we actually think.

^ I’m surprised at John Henry getting this so wrong. He owns Boston Red Sox who play at Fenway Stadium which was built in 1912. I’ve been there and the place reeks of history and is loved by Red Sox fans. Henry knows that any attempt to move to a bigger stadium would be impossible. He has always claimed to understand the culture of the sports he’s invested in and so far with Liverpool had done a good job. A decent public apology but the damage will be long lasting
