I see that a statue of Christopher Columbus has been torn down in Richmond USA.

In terms of Anthony Joshua I do not condone his use of the term superior black race & his comments on Robert Mugabe. I have no real problem with him saying boycott white businesses, in a free market people have the right to spend their money wherever they please. Boycotting is an act of non violent resistance that proved affective in ending segregation on Alabama buses, the reality is however given the overwhelming majority of businesses are white owned i'm note convinced that black people will be able to carry this out. Do I think it would of been better if he said "Support Black Business" ? Yes but it's not a hill I am looking to die on.

In terms of Lewis Hamilton & German companies, I do not support tax havens & individuals moving their wealth into them. One of the many reasons I wanted to stay in The EU is because there are plans for a consolidated tax base that would look to reduce/eliminate this problem, in fact the only reason we have Brexit is because the super rich many of whom are Nigel Farage's mates in The City don't want to have to fund our NHS. Having said that I don't think that means that he should not be able to participate in the national conversation especially as he is a black man in the limelight.

With regards to German businesses, the comparison is not equal as the German government has paid Billions of pounds in reparations to Israel for the Holocaust, German companies that were involved with the Third Reich have also contributed to a fund, The German Government has gone to great lengths to educate its citizens on the horrors of Nazism & German Chancellor Willy Brandt laid a wreath & knelt down in a gesture of humility & penance for The Warsaw Ghetto uprising.

Meanwhile India cannot even get a verbal apology from British Prime Minsters for violent acts carried out by The Empire during The Raj such as the Jallianwala Bagh massacre when British soldiers opened fire on unarmed civilians killing at least 379 & injuring over 1,000

I think on many subjects there has to be a balanced argument and each side has to have an equal say, but when one side pushes further than the other then you have to expect a backlash. I was disappointed with Joshua's speech it certainly came across as a speech that he didn't have a hand in writing or preparing..

Hamilton has expressed his views on many subjects many occasions and I think he has to expect criticism for what he has said from certain quarters. Bu like i have always said we have to be very careful how we proceed.

I am willing to offer apologies if i have opened up a debate that is a sensitive one for some of us.

Do think this BLM movement is at risk of shooting itself in the foot now after the incidents over the weekend with officers injured in London & police horses attacked. Plus the tearing down of the Colston statue in Bristol, yes he was a slave trader, but doesn’t mean you can then commit acts if criminal damage & vandalism to remove it.

Plus now a statue of Queen Victoria in Leeds was vandalised with BLM graffiti even though she had nothing to do with slavery which had been abolished before she became queen

There has hardly been any mention of david dorn a retired black police man who was killed by a blm protester who was also black

If black live matter maybe black men should stop killing eachother first....

Also they are making george floyd out to be some type of hero but this whole thing came about after he tried to use fake money in a store and at the time of his arrest he had ridiculous amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine and THC in his system and had serious heart disease and one of his valves was 90% blocked, now im not saying what happened was right the arresting officer should get what coming to him but making this criminal out as some type of saint is just wrong.

This is now making me think that there are people within the movement who are embarking their own agenda in BLM's name and whose actions are sending out the wrong message and probably acting in a way that goes against BLM's agenda.
Targeting statues that have absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH slavery is just ridiculous. God knows how they can even consider even pulling down statues of footballers who have no connection to slavery.
