Glen Johnson is England first choice RB at the moment. But for me he is costly at times/dangerous supperb going forwaard but decion making at the back let him down big time. For me id pick Micah Ricards all day long over any english RB ( yes i know he has been injured most of the season and still is ) But i am going of past England Squads where he has not been picked when having been playing out standing. But than again when is a England team ever picked on Form Steven Taylor been spot on since getting back from Injury no place for him even Downing been spot on as well of late and he is left out as well. Some may even argue Ricky Lambert deserves to be picked going from form of players rather than reputation

The money we hopefully get from selling Carroll in the summer should all be invested into our back 4 and another decent keeper. Somebody like Vorm or Julio Cesar would be good to compete with Reina for the number 1 spot, if he is still here next season that is.

Wanting to sell Skrtel after having ONE bad season is the same thing people have been saying about Pepe , as for Julio Cesar if you think Reina's been twitchy than Cesar is more often than not worse , just look at how he played at Inter .

Martin & Pepe have both been consistently good for the majority of their Liverpool careers . Brad Jones is a good backup for Pepe who will stay as he's stated numerous times , Johnson is a good right back/wing back and he's suited for those positions not in midfield , yes he likes to go foward but what right/left backs don't prefer going foward , if he wasn't a good enough defender than he wouldn't be England's first choice .

Brad jones is nowhere near the standard of backup keeper we should have, he looks shakey, nervous, can't hold onto a ball, not good with his feet, I really don't rate him at all, Cesar is a very good keeper, a hell of a lot better than Jones, he's been our number 1 for Brasil for a number of years now, won the CL with Inter, won the league, and this season if it wasn't for him QPR would have been relegated before christmas....

it's also fair to say skrtel has had only one good season for us too so the argument can work both ways, loook how solid we looked the last few games with Carra at the back, then compare it to today when Skrtel plays and the other games he's cost us in this season, there are far better CB's around we could buy instead of Skrtel, rumours are Zenit want him, i'd let him go for around 8million and bring in somebody else more reliable. More often than not when Skrtel has played this season we have either given up the lead or Lost games....

Johnson's decison making defensively isn't brilliant, he's always letting attackers get infront of him or leaving attackers open. Good going forwards yes, defensively he is questionable. As for Englands first choice you have nobody else really... yes he is the best English RB but there are better from other countries.

Have to agree about jones he doesn't look that assured, I thought the skrttel/agger partnership at the start of season was good but then it fell apart.

That's not saying much when his backup for the England game was Diego Cavalieri , who is pretty much useless .

Obsessed?? all i said was he'd be better as a backup keeper than brad jones, and as for the england game it was a friendly, that team we played was no where near our full strength, and it was actually diego alves of valencia on the bench as backup to cesar in the engand game not Cavalieri......

Alves will either be our number 1 for the world cup and cesar as backup or vice versa... Either way both those goalkeepes are much better than jones who looks like a championship keeper at best...

Julio Cesar & Michel Vorm won't want to come here to sit on the bench, the point of a back up keeper at a club like this is they know they're not gonna play & are willing to sit on the bench for less money than they could earn at a club where they'd be first choice.

I'd agree with the point of our loss today was down to Lucas not starting, not sure why he didn't. Joe Allen should be used the same as Raheem Sterling is, his season is now over due to his place in the team not being used to the full extent, have a rest, play in the U21's & start a fresh next season.

It always spells trouble when a manager brings in players from his old club, especially when he's taken over a club with higher standards, (Fabio Borini???). That said I think Allen will be a good player in the coming years but this season is a none starter. It doesn't look good for him when Xabi Alonso is being linked with a return, Allen is still only 22 though, 3 years under Alonso will do him & Jordan Henderson the world of good, not to mention freeing up Gerrard a bit more.

I uses Cesar as an example only because he would give Reina a lot more competition than Jones who offers none really, if say Cesar looked sharper in training ect then they could drop Reina, at the minute that doesn't happen because Reina is a completely different class to Jones, with another good goalkeeper it would keep both men on their toes fighting for the position like spurs did with lloris and friedel

Brad Jones was probably our best player yesterday!

Not saying much I know and I agree that he's not good enough for the club but he's not alone.

One step forward, five steps back as usual from the lads, and Spurs losing today only makes it ten times worse!!

Why don't Liverpool just do a swap with barca, Valdes wants to experience a new league and reina may want the move.
