When Joe was getting hammered, there was commentary excuse of "well he won't have practised because he won't have expected to make it" - but if he's one of the 2 back-ups then he should have known. There have been other tournaments with people forced out by covid, and if subs were decided rather than allowing byes (perhaps because it's such a small field anyway), then surely some practice would have been an idea? Even generally.

It's just Joe Perry ain't Judd Trump and never will be. Amazing that he and Dave Gilbert were in the mix at all given neither's had that great a season.
Bingham beat Thepchaiya.
Shaun Murphy overhauled Mark Williams 6-4 in a high quality contest to set up a clash with Bingham in the last 8.
The only high quality thing Tubs does is look fat and grumpy.

As soon as the prospect of Bingham v Murphy was there, you knew it was bloody inevitable.
^ I knew you would be pleased laugh.

Knowing my luck Maguire will probably play himself in the final bladewave
I heard John Virgo back on commentary too, just to make it complete Sad
Is there a reason why Robertson v Bingtao isn't on BBC 1 or 2 ? Seems odd to not be showing it.
Because so-called Professor Brian Cox is more appealing to middle-aged housewives than John Parrott.

BBC4 are showing whoever's on this evening, 7-9pm
Yan Bingtao recovered superbly from 3-1 and 5-3 down to pip Neil Robertson 6-5.
