On channel 5 next Monday 8th February at 9pm. From what I've seen of it and from seeing what people have said about it, I'm going to watch & give it a go
Just watching last nights episode weird and funny esp bit in phone shop Wink
seen the first episode on Channel 5 tonight and gets a big thumbs up from me. really enjoyed it
Just watched the first 4 eps (4th one tough to watch on a personal level) but must say happy as f#@k with it's return.
Still keeping the random comedy eps while just as gripping as I like it! Top stuff!
Quick random & useless fact for most, when I first joined up to this place "The Truth Is Out There" was my first avatar. [Image: alien-abduction-smiley-emoticon.gif]

good episode especially the bit where mulder is high on magic mushrooms Wink funniest part
I sense a spin off or a new younger x files, miller and Einstein a younger version of mulder and scully.

that scene was fucking funny.
what a finale. miller and Einstein are a great addition to the show.
Finally watched the first episode of the new series on catch up.

It was OK. Bit of a kind of "greatest hits" feel to it.

Some of the dialogue a bit clunky but I guess in retrospect a lot of it always was, I haven't watched the DVDs for a few years. The Mulder / Skinner "Isn't the government bad spying on us and stuff" bits seemed especially "dropped in" message-heavy. I had to suspend my disbelief quite hard that Skinner was still there - he surely wouldn't still be in the FBI he was obviously too sympathetic to the X Files - unless his bosses were deliberately keeping him there just to manipulate him into messing with Mulder & Scully. Not as hard as suspending disbelief that the CSM was still alive despite being consumed in fireball after being showered with missiles from helicopters at the end of the previous series.

The whole "there's no aliens at all actually, it's just the government and military industrial complex pretending it's aliens to cover up them generally being fiendish to us" was a bit deja vu : we had all that in the Michael Kritchsgau era. And having one of the characters also say they'd heard all that before that didn't exactly deflect my reaction to that.laugh

I'll persevere out of curiosity - the more one-off non-conspiracy stories were always the more successful episodes in the later series imo, so there's still hope.
