Looks like Sky 1HD have picked up the rights to new series no date and when it will air.
I thought Cigarette Smoking Man got killed at the end when the helicopters fired missiles?

I have been watching the original series and I do remember watching it when it first on, season 2 ep with the freak show people especially one where a geek ate the brother. also was there an ep where a family was being hunted and the strongest member were being targeted, it was set in a house with woods at the back?

He was certainly hit during the helicopter attack and must have been badly injured at least, but his body was never found.

I seem to recall a fairly graphic CGI-d close up image of an enormous ball of flame engulfing his head in a deathly grimace.
But I guess like almost every character that gets killed in new Dr Who these days, they'll just implausibly resurrect him.

did x files cover clone tech? if so they could have cloned a replacement to be killed off?
^ there were alien bounty hunters and clones in the early series.
I think there were also genetically engineered "super soldier" humans in the latter ones, so I guess anything goes.
The actor that played the CSM will be fairly getting on a bit these days though won't he ?
They could always use the younger "Jeffrey Spender" version.
