I agree with you, but the ratings dipped without Mulder's presence, so it looks as though we were in the minority.
It's noteworthy that Fox only agreed to bring The X-Files back if Mulder and Scully were guaranteed to feature.

I didn't dislike Dogget and Reyes, my view was that Dogget and Scully didn't really work beyond the first few episodes when he was "investigating Mulder" ; my problem was that apart from a couple of isolated episodes I don't think the quality of stories served Dogget and Reyes well - it felt to me like they were just repeating themselves. I just think the writers had run out of ideas.
Which is why I'm not sure bringing it back is a very good idea.
The 2nd feature film with Mulder and Scully I thought was very run-of-the-mill. Just my opinion.
Robbie Amell and Lauren Anbrose are to guest star in the 4th Ep of the new series.
The Lone Gunmen are back for the new series.

What as ghost?
From what I've read they faked there deaths lol.
I thought their deaths in The X-Files/Lone Gunmen series was meant to be heroic and self-sacrificing...it's going to have be a very convincing reason/story behind how their deaths were faked or otherwise prevented.
^ Alien clone super-soldier bullshit ?
Or just your standard "faked our own deaths to get the spooks off our tails?"
Here's the lowdown: their deaths were faked so that they could continue their operations more discreetly.
