If only we could have confirmation that the Maldives sighting was genuine. If it was, then they should start scouring the Bay of Thailand. If It didn't land at any of the simulator airports, then surely it has no other resting place but the sea or in a dense forest or mountainous area where it could lay undiscovered for months. All I can say is that the pilot certainly acted in a way which suggests to me that he was most likely part of a more elaborate plan whatever it was - whether it be terrorism or insurance fraud or whatever. Until the plane re - appears or is discovered we'll never know the exact intentions. What sort of flying record did he have though, was it exemplary?
It's now being said that the plane’s change of heading was input into the cockpit computer before the last voice communication was made from the plane at 01:19. ACARS transmitted the information about the change of course as part of it's automatic report made at 01:07.

I've had a look at what planes were recorded as being over the Maldives at 06:15 that morning (the time of the sighting) and there were a number of small planes in the air, but only 2 jumbo jets.

SQ462 - Singapore Airlines Airbus A330 - flying at 38,000 feet

TK730 - Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 - flying at 35,000 feet
Malaysia's chief of police said today that they looking into files deleted from the pilot's flight simulator. Records of simulated flights carried out on the simulator were deleted recently and computer experts have been asked if those files can be retrieved.

One detail I missed is who made that last voice communication from the plane at 01:19. The pilot?

Yes the pilot had an exemplary record and was highly experienced with almost 20,000 hours of flying time. He was also a qualified aviation examiner and therefore carried out tests on other pilots.

Is it even possible for the US to have blown the plane out of the sky and then cover the whole thing up?

No, the official version of events states that it was the co-pilot who said "all right, goodnight" at 01:19.

So when the co-pilot made the last voice communication from the plane at 01:19 he was well aware that a different heading had already been set for the plane via input into the cockpit computer?

The Bay of Thailand? How come? That's 2000 miles away from the Maldives and not even in the right direction. Whilst I think of it, what direction was the plane that flew over the Maldives travelling in exactly?
