So what do you reckon will happen in the transfer window? Do think anyone will be coming in, and more importantly, do you think Mike Ashley will be willing to turn down concrete offers if they come in for Owen or Given?
Personally, I think Given will be gone in January. To be fair, the guy deserves to be playing Champions League football. His performance in the defeat to Liverpool was fantastic. That game could have ended up a 10 goal thriller if it hadn't been for him.
Apparently Ashley is going to be sticking with the club now, or so I heard on Sky Sports News. If that's true and he's willing to keep going, then hopefully he'll hold on to them. As for buying.. I'm not sure... probably not even if he's sticking by the club... loan could be a possibility if he's not putting that much more money into the club but who knows.

He better not get rid of Given, he is one the only thing that kept us going for a long time... Don't think Owen has done enough for Newcastle to be able to comment on it, while he is an amazing player he's been injured almost all the time he's been an employee of the club. If he can sustain a decent run for the club, my opinion would be that we need to keep him. Pretty sure Owen will stay til the end of the season anyways... At least he stated that he wanted to wait til then to decide.
He's been one of the top keepers in England for a while now. He really deserves a shot at playing CL football again, but it's going to be real blow to Newcastle if they lose him. He's always seemed like a loyal sort of bloke, so he might not join Spurs, even if they do bid, but if the rumours are true about Arsenal I think any player who isn't already at one of the big four or Villa is going to go. You only get one career, after all.
He has been really loyal to Newcastle, he could've left years ago and gone to most CL clubs and done brilliantly. If he goes I won't be surprised, I'll be a bit gutted but for the job he's done for us he deserves success.
At least if he does go, there's a very good replacement ready, in Steve Harper. If he'd had just about any other keeper ahead of him he'd have played a hell of a lot more games than he has. This Tim Krul feller is supposed to be useful as well, but I haven't seen him myself.
Fair point. From what I've seen from both, they are decent 'keepers too. Too bad in the past we've not been blessed with defenders... Can never usually complain too much about our offensive game though. Andy Cole, Peter Beardsley, Michael Owen and of course Alan Shearer were/are all great for us Big Grin

Martins' has his days too Tongue
