Makes your eyes water just thinking about it.......
Somebody asked in the Olympics thread about whether the story of Tyson Gay being called "Tyson Homosexual" by an American religious group was true or just an urban legend, and unbelievably there is truth in the story!
The American Family Association, a right-wing Christian group, had an automatic filter built into their computer system which automatically changed some words in their "One News Now" news releases (and before you condemn them, remember that this forum has one as well, eg if you try and post the word t/w/a/t it automatically changes it to twit).
Anyway, their system changed "gay" to "homosexual" and the rest, as they say, is history:
The story re-emerged a couple of months ago in the Daily Mirror who tried to pass it off as "news", despite it happening in 2008!
They say that truth is stranger than fiction. If you've seen the "Mr Bean" film, you'll recall that this is what he did to the famous portrait of "Whistler's Mother":
Well.......
A new World Record for finding a message in a bottle was set after a Scottish skipper found it 98 years after it was released, breaking the old record by more than 5 years. In a strange coincidence Andrew Leaper was skippering the same Shetland based vessel Copious which had set the previous record.
